I've lived in N.W. Ohio my whole life and I get told all the time that I have a southern accent.

The accent you hear is a rual accent. I am not from Ohio but been hear for ten years,people in the cities sound differnt from people in the rual areas.

YES! They are(all three) from South Point, OH which is right on the Ohio River, next to KY and WV.

Actually most of West Virginian has a southern accent, and this is based on analysis of speakers by linguists by the Univ of Penn. This means they share common patterns of speaking, not that they sound the same but they are all considered Southern.
