I took the kids out to Berlin Lake today. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as though there IS a sand beach there anywhere. We parked in the Day Use area and walked through into the state campground...the closest we found was a small patch of grass that sat up against the water without all the trees that surround most of the other shores. It had a little playground thingy in it. We were all kinda disappointed....there still doesn't seem to be a "beach" anywhere within an hour's drive of us.

The beach was next to the day use area. There is still Craig Beach at Lake Milton, and the beach at Guilford Lake.

Go to bing.com and click on maps. Type in "Guilford Lake". There are two beaches there. One is in the camp ground. The other is on the North side of the lake. It is horse shoe shaped. You can see the parking and shower areas with the bird's eye view.

I just looked at the bird's eye of Berlin. It looks like they let the beach area turn to crap. There used to be swimming in the day use area, but they filled it with rocks years ago to discourage swimming.

So I drove the kids out to a concert in Akron last weekend, and as we traveled the I76, we saw a lake with houses and docks everywhere. Being we were only 20 minutes into our trip, and there seemed to be much more "access" to the water then we experienced at Berlin, we were quite excited. Of course we figured out once we got home that this was indeed Lake Milton.

So I've spent some time researching Milton this morning...lot of "history" there it seems (both good and bad). I'm reading a lot about a "new" beach there with changing areas/etc. Anyone know where abouts that is? Is it Craig's Beach, or somewhere else on the lake?

^I don't know if you have a dog or not, but Mosquito now has an off leash dog park that everyone is raving about and it recently won an award.

This link may be a bit misleading. I'm not sure about its fishing status.

Evans Lake was part of a three lake system at one time. Evans, Pine, and Beaver. They were open to fishing. I'm pretty sure Beaver is now owned by the Firestone golf course in Columbiana.

Evans and Pine Lakes are owned by Aqua Ohio. They compete with Youngstown for supplying water to the townships. All three lakes were closed to the public a few years back. I've heard rumors that Pine Lake is going to reopen on a limited basis, but I can't confirm that. Give Aqua Ohio a call.
If I buy and own a house on Evans Lake, can I have a dock and a boat out in front of my house and what is the horsepower limit?
