Like all people, we are slaves to our Government and those who are in charge of everything we need in our daily lives to live and operate.
Orange water would be a sign of rust in the system, (Usally a water treatment plant will institute a lime or other chemical program in order to coat the pipes, so that this is eliminated, though it coats the faucets and pipes in your house, and wrecks havoc with the every day funtion of appliances and all that.
The only thing I know of, that would turn the water 'pink', is a chemical that 'test' the water for chlorine...(I was on the 'dirty side' of the business, but was familiar with the Water side also).
Basically, we are at the mercy of whom ever it is, that treats the water supply. If they come in drunk, or have a grudge against the World and urinate in the water or anything else they choose to do with our water supply, we are simply ignorant of the fact.. All we see is the end product, and hope and pray that its the best quality that they can manage under what ever circumstances that they toil under.
(I gotta stope wathing CAUGHT ON CAMERA, as I see all the gross things people do, when the public isnt watching or they want to get back at people...makes me positively shiver and never want to eat out in public again!).
Now, it might have been that someone was inattentive for a few moments while adding some sort of disinfectant to the water, or what ever chemical that was needed, alum or others, and simply didnt watch the feed rate and put too much in, to turn it that color...(But that suprises me though, as they ususally take samples of water many times a day, and through out the shifts and should have caught the mistake early...unless too much of it went through already, between sampling periods.
Sorry, I meander a lot when it comes to things I wonder about, and since I am retired Waste Water Plant Operator (see, I told you I was at the 'dirty end of the business" LOL!, I am too at the mercy of the Water plants...But, I did install two whole house water filters in my house, just to be a wee bit safer, and protect the plumbing by getting most of the lime out of the system and protect my plumbing!
My the LORD Bless each of you.
I wish you well...
Jesse
