Default Moving to Newark

Hello! My husband, myself, and two kids are relocating from Southern California to Newark (ya, I know...). We had a long weekend trip there in 2007, and loved it, but didn't really get a feel for neighborhoods, schools, utilities, etc.

Any help/info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

P.S. Please don't warn me about the "traffic". Been stuck on the 405 in rush hour... (takes you an hour to go 10 miles!)

I grew up in Newark and still have family there. Schools in Newark are woefully underfunded because voters disenchanted with either the school district, the notion of paying more taxes, or both have turned down levy after levy.

The best nearby public school district is Granville. Granville is also where the nicest housing can be found. If you're selling a California home, you can probably afford to buy in Granville. That's where I'd recommend you look.

I disagree that it's that bad. Got any fact-based reasons to share? One could substitute the name of any city in the US for what you've posted there about Newark.

There are good and bad points in every city, that's true.

Newark is a very nice area. Its not far from the big city ammenities of Columbus, and its close to Hocking Hills. I would take Newark over Southern California anyday.

City of Newark, Ohio

I highly doubt it's as bad as you say it is--it looked pretty freakin nice compared to Van Nuys, where we lived for 2 1/2 years.
