Philadelphia still has a much higher murder rate than Cleveland. I feel much safer in Cleveland than Miami, Phoenix, and especially Philadelphia. What was Philly's murder rate a few years ago, somewhere around 450 a year!

I know this girl that was walking on South Beach, a homeless man came up to her, she wore glasses, and he said "how about I gut you right here four eyes?" She was from Cincinnati, and she had never ran into anything like that before, and didn't know how to react. Luckily there were two guys walking by and told her to run, while they made sure he didn't follow her.

Also, keep in mind, a lot of crime and murders happen with gangs, and in gang related areas. I have ran into many more problems in center city Philadelphia, and downtown Phoenix, over the problems in downtown Cleveland.

2007 murder rates:
(12 largest cities in Ohio)
Youngstown-51.5
Cleveland-30.8
Cincinnati-20.4
Dayton-18.0
Lorain-14.7
Columbus-10.7
Akron-10.5
Canton-10.2
Springfield-8.0
Toledo-4.4
Parma-3.8
Hamilton-3.2

(Other)
Philadelphia, PA-27.3
Miami, FL-19.0
Chicago, IL-15.6
Phoenix, AZ-13.8

I get what youre trying to do, which is say Ohio is not such a horrible place and there are other places worse, but its just that some of your stats are off and youre not completely correct.

Where did you get those numbers? According to this site, Cleveland's was 20.5 and Cincinnati's was 19.0 in 2007.

Cleveland had 135 (or 134) in 2007, not 90.

Cincinnati had 68 homicides in 2007, not 63.

Im curious about how the city-data page and FBI manage to get their numbers so far off when every single other place you go it shows the actual number, which is much different. I dont think they have 1 homicide count right for Cleveland, and if you look at Cincinnatis page Im almost positive they have many of the counts off as well. Did Cincinnati really only have 29 homicides in 1999 and 15 homicides in 2000? I doubt it.

Those numbers seem way off. The problem is, I have been to these other cities, Cleveland may have high crime, but I dispute facts from a lot of other places, so many sources have many different numbers. I having traveled to the cities that I named several times, Cleveland is the safer one. I highly doubt Philly's crime/murder rate is lower than Cleveland's.

cleveland is a city famous for under-reporting the crimes that occur, i have been to philly many times as my grandparents have lived in north philly for many years. i used to live in eastside cleveland and it is just as crime-ridden as north or west philly (the robbery rate in cleveland beats the robbery rate in philly tenfold).

Ive also lived in (for a few months) and been to/visited Chicago and Philly, and am very familiar with those 2. Never been to Miami, although I will in the near future, but I heard it has improved greatly over the years. Never been to Phoenix but its not known to be a very dangerous city, although of course it does have a crime problem.

Those stats that I put up are just about all correct. Some may be off by a small margin because I got the other cities numbers from this site, which have been way off for some cities.
