YES! Because all the old school Steubenville residents apparently live with blinders on their eyes! We cannot change what is going on in this town until we FACE IT!!!!!

I had time to read some other reviews, And I laughed myself silly at the guy who said they are installing cameras in LaBelle. No one will be caught because of cameras! You have people robbing stores everyday in the daylight and we can't catch them, now at night, from a distance you think a camera is going to catch our criminals? HAHAHA. Our police are so corrupt they have been monitored by the federal goverment for years...This is all so funny. I live in the westend..that amazing part of Steubenville you all dream of...it's not crime free, when our house was broken into the cop didn't even get out of the car, so no wonder you never hear of crime, he didn't make a report! We are a JOKE to the state of Ohio...Columbus Dispatch recently wrote and article laughing at us because "our big idea" to stop crime was installing signs saying "we report crime" are you KIDDING me? Do you know that 90% of our drug dealers probably don't even know what the word tolerance means!! Bet all that city money spent on those signs did us a whole lot of good... Wake UP! People who are stuck in Steubenville (like myself) want nothing more than to see this town come back, but I guess I need to keep dreaming!

I do call the police, nothing is ever done. There is a drug dealer in my neighborhood..not one I suspect..one I KNOW is a drug dealer and my drug enforcement police officer neighbor told me he is off limits because he is the son of a retired cop....NICE
But why should I think my drug enforcement neighbor would be upstanding anyway, I have watched him drink a beer while driving out of our neighborhood, and run the light at the end of our street, and drive down our street so fast the sound of his engine shakes my windows...and he is a Steubenville Cop...I need the a set of blinders so I can't see this bullsh*t you old school steubenville residents don't see either...

The Steubenville I Knew
It has always been very disheartening for me to see the changes that have taken place in my birthplace. Looking back (I now live in NYC), it was an idyllic city to have grown up in (the worst thing that happened was that somebody was accused of shoplifting). I believe the root of the problem to be was the shutting down of the steel mills thus affecting the city's economy.

you are correct. not having another plan has stung a lot of cities on the rust belt very hard. no amount of positivity will save a city which loses so many jobs.

I dont live on the hilltop, but, I live in the 'patch'..Across the highway from Big Red High School.
Up on the hill top, Pleasant Heights, they have Convinient on Maxwell Avenue, and you have a lot of Druggies and shootings going on in that area. Thing is, there is shootings but, they are at houses in that area, and soon they plan to catch the idiot that does it. We have the Cripts and Bloods in that area, and thats why you have gang violence there.
LaBelle section, is mostly taken over by the College kids and people who are associated with Franscican University, so, not much crime actully goes on there. (There was an incident of a couple of college Students, a lot of years back, who got killed, because people think they were messed up in something, about money, but other than that, its pretty quiet.

Well, I wouldn't say labelle has mostly college kids, or doesn't have much crime. I lived on pleasant heights on oakmont for 7 years when I was little until 5th grade. It was bad then, but I guess not AS bad now. That is why we moved. My grandma lived on maxwell, about 4 houses down from conveniant (sp). PH has always been bad, I lived there 15 years ago. Labelle is about equal to pleasant heights. Tons of drugs, shootings, and gangs. I went to school with one of the guys who allegedly killed the college students years ago. Another guy I knw just got shot in broad daylight with a shotgun on labelle a few months back.
The only area of pleasant heights that is still nice and always has been, is the alexander mannor area. As soon as you cross the bridge and turn right, then right again. I'd live there.
