That's scary. I guess there is a whole world that goes on in the dark, when a lot of people are in their house.

Ok, having been born, raised and will probably die in Steubenville, I love it!!
I dont live on the hilltop, but, I live in the 'patch'..Across the highway from Big Red High School.
Up on the hill top, Pleasant Heights, they have Convinient on Maxwell Avenue, and you have a lot of Druggies and shootings going on in that area. Thing is, there is shootings but, they are at houses in that area, and soon they plan to catch the idiot that does it. We have the Cripts and Bloods in that area, and thats why you have gang violence there.
LaBelle section, is mostly taken over by the College kids and people who are associated with Franscican University, so, not much crime actully goes on there. (There was an incident of a couple of college Students, a lot of years back, who got killed, because people think they were messed up in something, about money, but other than that, its pretty quiet.
West End, they built a new School and new off ramps from Lovers Lane and John Scott Highway to the new Route 22 they made, so that it goes to Route 7 now. (I dont know how many years ago thats been, you might have been here when it was done, as I think its been over 10 years now, but not sure.
Crime rate in the West End is almost nill...But, who knows with this economic downturn, any City can have its problem with crime, now that a lot of people are unemployed and all that mess.
Weirton Steel has been sold a few times, since you have been gone, and is down to about 600 or so people working, I believe, and Wheeling Steel has been sold to another Company and has had layoff too.
All in all, jobs are hard to get, I would reckon, but, being retired myself, I dont have anything to worry about.
If your wanting to start a new business, well, there is plenty of manpower around for you to get, and they are hungry for work, and will be dedicated to your business!
May the LORD Bless each of you.
I wish you well...
Jesse

Jesse, that bit about the steel mills is disheartning. I know my brother was working and retired from it. Down to 600? Wow..that is not good. All that mess up on the hill surprises me. It sounds like it got bad there. I do hope the police get a grip on that.
Thanks for the update. I can tell you are good at this!

I lived in steubenville ohio for 18 months and will not go back for anything it is a horrible place to live and no place to raise children me and my new husband and our 3 kids got out fast the drugs and shootings and stabbings are so bad there its really bad when a detective tells you if you come back you will have a bullet in your head and float down the ohio river that tells you something i think the cops there take drug brives and are paid off with drugs that is the worst city i have ever been in and if you help get the drugs off the streets and help out the cops with it you get nothing out of it but a f*** you if you get what i mean and thats not fair to anyone to have to go through that and the people that lived there all there lives i feel really bad for them i lived by and elderly lady and her sister it was so bad there they went to bed and locked there doors @ 5:00 in the afternoon and would not see them out at all very nice people but are scared for there lives thats bad when that happens our home was broken into the people got away with it they stole money and lots more out of our house and the cops did nothing about it and thats because there corrupt if anything i would pay to see that city burn to the ground it dont need to be there at all the drug dealers move in and took over the city we watch alot of fires and shootings down there and i would not advise anyone to move to that city said enough is enough and left
