mushrooms and muskies
Anybody there in northwest ohio that hunts for Morel mushrooms? I got out today and looked but found zilch. I did find some fine looking polyporus squamosus. Oh and some artist conck. And I was in a new area and followed a nice creek to a point where it opened up to a beautiful water way that I had totally to myself. It appeared to be decent depth, fairly clear ,and seen some good size fish. So next time I'm there looking for Morels maybe I can add some fishing to my day.

I would be too afraid of eating mushrooms like that. I would kill myself. That all sounds like a great time though. I would go just to be by the water.

The mushroom that I look for are called Morel or more commonly called sponge caps. They are in my area for maybe a month .Many stores and fine dinning establishments will also buy them if they are fresh picked. There is really no other mushroom that looks like them, so its impossible to mix them up for a toxic type.I've been told they can sell for .$20.00 a pound. I've seen them for sale on the web--dried 40.00---75.00 per lb.

Thanks! I found the Morel Mushroom Hunter's Club, but it wont let me in without joining, still I was able to see them. I dont ever remember seeing mushrooms look like that, in the open. I think they would be easily recognizable. Are they a strong flavor?
