Default Decision on where to move...opinions please

We will be relocating to Ohio within the next year. After extensive research and visiting our various choices we've narrowed it down to the Avon Lake/Bay Village/ Westlake area of Cleveland or the Pickerington/Gahanna area of Columbus. My wife and I both like the Cleveland area a little more than the Columbus area, however, we have a few friends in the Columbus which will provide more of a social network from the beginnning. We know nobody in the Cleveland area. I'm just interested in how some people would evaluate the importance of a social network in an area you would like to live as opposed to no social network in an area you would love to live. Thanks

Well, I will add my two cents. I currently live in Pickerington and I love it. I have two children that attend great public schools and there are plenty of family activities here. I also have family in Cleveland that love the area however the winter months are horrible! Good luck with your decision.

Well, you could always drive down from Cleveland to visit your friends in Columbus...

I would visit multiple areas in both places and see which you like the best. The cities aren't that far apart so the friend issue shouldn't be a big deal, unless you're very close to them. Chances are you'll quickly make new friends in either city.

Lake Erie: A big reason for Cleveland's rough winters, but also offers great recreation opportunities in the summer. Especially if you're living in the Avon Lake/Bay Village area. Something to consider, anyways.
