The city of Cincinnati has generally lost population for the last few decades (although that may now be changing). However, the city of Columbus includes many areas that would be suburban in Cincinnati's area. If the city of Columbus hadn't annexed a lot of the land that they did years ago it's likely the city would have seen a drop in population as well.

Yes, Cincinnati's MSA and City pop. are both growing.

Two reasons:
A) It's the capital (show me a capital that gets short-changed?).
B) Its suburban economy also happens to be within its city limits.

Actually, it's more like 18-19%. NKY's population is roughly 418,000.

Too bad in KY its all sprawl and the majority of it would not be there if it wasn't for Cincinnati. I am not worried, Cincinnati is seeing huge amounts of growth in downtown, and in the city itself, and the northern suburbs are unfortunately sprawling as well, and is about to connect with Dayton, but they are growing too, and have a much larger population than all the NKY counties. Theres a new Ikea in West Chester, and it brings in the folks from all over Kentucky 24/7.
