Looking for City information on Franklin, OH
Greetings!
As it's winter, I'm not much for traveling with the unpredictable weather and all, but at the same time I'm trying to research Ohio cities. After doing a Google search for possible scene locations for my novel I've come to like Franklin (county of Warren) and I'd like more information about the quality of life there. Franklinohio.org is a very informative site about the workings of the city itself but it's lacking the ultra-personal quality I was hoping to find. I'd like to know about the little shops on Main Street (if there are any little shops on Main Street), is there an old feed store or farming equipment supply in town... you know, the nitty-gritty of non-urban life. With a po****tion of around 12,000 I don't expect to find Small Town, USA living but I'd like to get to know the place. I'd like to research this city as if I was planning to move there (and if I like it enough, who knows, maybe I will). Although I have city search maps available and many other research tools at my disposal I really do prefer talking to residents or at least those who know something about the workings of the city. I hope to make a trek down there in the coming weeks but it would be wonderful to have an idea of what's there beforehand.
If anyone can give me additional info or point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
Have a wonderful New Year!

Hi, I am a Franklin Township resident, just outside the city and I graduated from Franklin High School in the city. Main Street has some little stores, a cute bakery, and a couple resturants, but is more in the revival mode right now. There is some charming older housing stock in the city, especially that lining the river, crossed by the famous Lion's Bridge. Its an interesting place, but moral isn't so great for some reason. Ask me specific questions and I'll answer in any detail you'd like.

Franklin
live Dayton, however, I am slightly familiar with Franklin. My take on Franklin, its a small community, with a quaint, downtown. I venture to say there's not much affluence there. Franklin has not experienced the growth of population that its neighboring community, Springboro has experienced over the years. Anyone with an interest in Franklin is, most likely, looking for that small, hometown, old-time, USA feeling. If so, I would be more inclined to live in German Town or Waynesville. Those two areas have captured that essence a lot more and better than Franklin.

I was just in Franklin. Oh boy, too many one-way streets. What are those beautiful life like murals all around town?

The Pilot Truck Stop in Franklin (OH 123 at I-75, Exit 36) is one of my favorites; the folks that work at the fuel desk are really nice! (Especially Dotti & Lori Lee!)
