How Lima,Ohio for living?(apartments colleges and what are the surrounding towns like?
How is Lima,Ohio for living?(apartments colleges and what are the surrounding towns like?)
I live about 45 minutes from Cleveland with my boyfriend, Michael, and his parents.
Michael and I plan to attend college next year. He plans to enter the HIGH PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGY degree program at University of Northwestern Ohio(UNOH) and I plan to enter the Registered nursing degree program at Rhodes State College.
Does anyone know how UNOH or Rhodes State College is for higher education?
UNOH and Ohio Technical College(OTC) are the only schools in Ohio that offer the type of program..Michael is looking for. OTC is located in Cleveland Ohio.
We have not any of the schools yet.
What are Lima and Cleveland's similarities and differences?
I've heard Cleveland is a rough city so I would rather live in Lima but its a farther away from his parents.
We want to rent an apartment together and also attend school. I've read reviews and data about Lima. I haven't read anything substantial regarding Lima.
How is housing in Lima, Ohio?
We would rent a one bedroom apartment but the rent seems cheap compared to New England, where I lived.
If we do chose Lima, should we move to Lima or a surrounding town?
What are the towns surrounding Lima,Ohio?
I want to know how Lima is for young adults attending college.
I am a STNA... DO you know what the average pay is for an STNA in Lima? Are there any good nursing homes in Lima, Ohio?

Lima is a hole in my opinion. I attend UNOH for high performance automotive technology and so does my roommate, it is a good school. Widely recognized as one of the best (if not #1) in the nation for that field of study, I would highly recommend UNOH over OTC. However, I reside in Findlay. Much nicer town, it's about a 45 minute ride from Findlay to Lima straight down 75.
I moved from Maryland where rent is beyond absurd levels. I'm splitting a 2-bedroom with a friend, I'm paying $325 a month rent and about $100 a month in utilities. Findlay is definitely a better place, visit the two and you will see what I am talking about. As for young adults in Findlay, don't expect good shopping in either Findlay or Lima (Toledo will be your best bet) but the Findlay club and bar scene is well populated with young adults. Findlay is home to a 4-year university (University of Findlay) and most of the college students in the area frequent the Yucatan (myself included).

Thank you, I thought no one would reply, its been a few weeks but I am grateful.
I've heard good comments about Findlay but none about Lima. Only if UNOH was in a better location.
I'm about to head out. I try to reply in more detail tonight.

In my opinion Lima is one of the worst towns to live in Ohio although the cost of living should be low.

Well, I hope the city treats us better than it did to you. I was interested in Lima because of the low cost of living, which is the only plus. Have you lived in Cleveland before because that is our other choose but UNOH is an amazing school.
After you earned your degree, what were the ups and downs? Were you able to find a job quick? Where there jobs around your area? What advice do you for someone who wants to earn a High performance degree?
Thank you for responding.

I haven't completely earned my degree quite yet, but I'll try to answer the questions. The school has a 95% job placement rating, I really haven't heard of anyone not being to find something. The upside to UNOH is their reputation, which is generally considered to be Harvard of high performance. He can get his ASE certifications in the high performance program, so he will be able to work as a mechanic as well as being able to do high performance.
