Default Question about Hwy 30

I generally take the turnpike from Pennsylvania to Indiana. The last couple of times, I went through Cleveland to Hwy 2 towards Toledo. Now, I am looking for a new, and intersting route. I have a few questions about Hwy 30 from Mansfield to VanWert. How is the drive in this stretch of road? Is it all 4 lane divided? How much of it is limited access? What about speed limit? What about gas prices -- resonable?

Thanks

I couldn't tell you about the road west of Galion, but most of it is posted at 60 or 65. As far as I know they're really aren't any 2 lane sections of 30 out that way, its about 50-50 limited-access, 4-lane. Its pretty flat and uneventful for the most part.

I'm not sure about the stretch of road you need to know about-

however, rt. 30 from pittsburgh to canton/manfield is gorgeous, I think. Very relaxing and not TOO boring. Much more eventful than the turnpike, and no traffic.

US-30 is now a 4-lane divided highway all the way from East Canton to Ft. Wayne where it meets I-469. It is an easy drive, very little traffic, especially once you get west of Mansfield. The only true 'expressway' parts are from Canton to Dalton, Rt. 57 (south of Orrville) to Wooster, I-71 to Bucyrus and when it concurs w/US-23 near Upper Sandusky. The rest is limited access. It is mainly 65 MPH w/a handful of stretches at 55/60. I would definitely recommend anyone to take it over the over-priced heavily travelled turnpike. Gas prices are going to be about the same as along the turnpike. Depending on where you are going in Indiana, if you need to get back to I-80/I-90, just take 30 to I-469 North to I-69 North.

Here is a link from ODOT that basically sums up what I already said:

One thing I will add though, I used to drive through Dalton to go to work, beware going through here! It is the only stretch of the route that is 50 MPH (about a mile or so), and the local revenue collectors errrrr cops are notorious for nabbing speeders who were going 60-65 right before and don't 'slow' down quickly enough! Almost daily there would be someone pulled over as I drove through there.

If you have time, I'd also highly recommend taking 6 from Cleveland to Bowling Green. A fairly quick drive, actually, and some interesting scenery along the way (borders the lake most of the time)

There's a fairly new Walmart at Van Wert, OH (jct. U.S. 30 and U.S. 127) They have gas & a McDonald's. There's also a travel plaza at the OH/IN line. Although U.S. 30's a major truck route, there aren't enough of them to slow you down.
