with south range hs, and lakeview hs what communities comprise these districts. Not being familiar with the counties it's kinda hit and miss when searching for homes, etc. both of these districts and communities (that I have been able to find) have pluses and i'd like to explore them a little more. is there anywhere I can search on the web that outlines the districts over the community maps?
are south range and lakeview both lower sports conferences? how close are these communites from the nearest good hospital (we all know there are hospitals that are good and those that are bad)
and now the question from out of the blue, are there any eastern rite (not roman) catholic churches in these communities?
like i said before I really appreciate all the help you have given, it does help tremendously to be able to talk to people who are familiar with the area. this is a tough decision to make and you've really helped alot.

Well, i can answer the Lakeview question. The Lakeview district covers Cortland City and Bazetta Township. I believe they are D3 (middle) in Football and D2 in every other sport(D1 being the biggest schools).
This district is located in Trumbull Co. just north of our county seat, Warren. The zip code for Cortland and Bazetta is 44410. Just make sure home listings say Lakeview Schools. There are a few outlying areas w/this zip that are not Lakeview, i believe the other districts are Mathews and Maplewood, which are both pretty small (South Range sized) and very rural.

As for hospitals Warren has 2 (both are probably w/in 10-15 minutes of the entire district. Forum Health - About Trumbull Memorial Hospital
Facility Information St. Joe's
Bazetta Township also has an urgent care facility. Here is a link to all hospitals in the area Health Care Facilities | Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber
Here is a map of Trumbull Co. to help you out:

As for the churches, i'm assuming you mean Orthox Catholic?? Warren has a few, like i said warren is anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes away from the Lakeview district depending upon which side of town you are going to.
Here's Romanian Orthodox : The Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America
St John the Baptist Orthodox Church
Wait, I can do even better, here is a list of all the Orthodox churches in the Valley:

Ok, hope i could help, SouthRange will be able to help you w/his area. If you have any additional question about Trumbull Co., Lakeview, or housing in this district, feel free to ask. I'm not a realtor, but it's kind of a hobby of mine to know what houses are selling for in the Lakeview District. I also grew up in Cortland and my parents now live in Bazetta, so i should be able to help you w/no problems. Good luck!

South Range consists of Green, and Beaver Townships Mahoning County. The high school is currently located in North Lima on Route 164. The Route 7 turnpike exit is just around the corner. Each twp. is 5 miles North to South, and 6 miles East to West. Rt 45 is our Western border. Western Reserve Rd. runs across the top. Route 14 is roughly our Southern border. I'm not sure exactly where the Eastern border is because the roads aren't laid out straight over there. Green is still very rural with several Mennonite farms. Beaver is building several high end housing developments. I always blame them for ruining our school district with growth. If you have highspeed, Google Earth is your friend to get a good view of the area.
In football we play division v, region 17. We are in the ITCL. Two years ago the Inter County League combined with the Tri County League to form the ITCL. The ITCL has an upper tier, and a lower tier so the slightly larger schools like ours wouldn't destroy the smaller schools like Sebring, and Western Reserve every year. Poor Sebring hasn't won a football game in years, but they dominate in basketball.
Is an Eastern Rite Church similar to Byzantine Catholic, or Russian Orthodox? We have a few small Presbytarian churches, two Mennonite churches, and something called the Greenford Christian Church. St Michaels is a Russian Orthodox church on Steel Street in Youngstown. I'm not sure what Canfield has. ( I was baptised in St. Michaels Orthodox church in Duquesne.)
St. Elizabeth Hospital just built a brand new facility in Boardman, and there are the older hospitals in Youngstown. Everybody knows that if you need a heart, go to Pittsburgh. If you have cancer, go to Cleveland.
If you drive out, I would suggest taking the turnpike to Lordstown. Head South on 45 to see North Jackson, and Ellsworth. Turn Right on 224. Head out to Berlin Lake. Cross the lake then turn around and come back to an intersection at Bedell Rd. Turn right (South) and follow the lake to Western Reserve Rd. Turn left (East) on WR and head towards Boardman and North Lima. It will take you back to 45. Turn right on 45 and left on 165 (just past the Salem Airport) It will take you past the Salem dragstrip, and through the middle of our school district. If you get there before 2pm, you can eat lunch at the airport. If not, there are a million places to eat in Boardman. It will remind you of the Century III area, only flatter. On the way home head South on 7, turn left on 14 which turns into 51 at the State line. 51 to Chippewa, 60 South to Pit.
You can make a dry run with Google Earth. I really like that program. During the whole trip you will see bison, ostrich, llamas, and possibly cows. You will think that you are in the middle of nowhere.
I forgot to add one thing. This area leans more towards the Steelers. Once you get above Lordstown, you will find many more browns fans.

I was referring to byzantine catholic. I knew there were two churches in warren my wife somehow found out about (no surprise there she's Uber Catholic). is it safe to go into warren? one of my coworkers said stay away from there. I know with detroit there's some towns you just don't stop in. is warren like that?
thank you for giving me more to look into. i really appreciate it. right now our plant is scheduled to be sold, we were supposed to be put into the job bank on April 1 (i know april fools) but now they are saying may 1 is the day. BUT none of this has been actually told to anyone officially. so... who knows what is going to happen. we have litterally been twisting in the wind for 2 or 3 years now, not knowing what is going to happen. the rumor we have heard is everyone who is staying with gm, probably 100-200 employees, is going to be forced to lordstown (area hire move), but once again no official word. now we are hearing there will be strike forced layoffs (american axle is on strike and since gm has no axles they are shutting down), but once again no official word. ever since we have been slated to close our status and future has been a total mystery, everything the company and the union says is either distorted or.....
i suppose the reason i'm saying all this is to show you the stress we are under having no idea or control over our immediate and farther futures. more specifically i want you to understand how much having someone help in this decision making process when we are already very stressed is really appreciated. i hope you understand what i am trying to say.
i will be looking into these links and looking into more and as i have more questions i will post them.
srf- duquesne.... i love a town that's spelled like it sounds. be thankful you're not there anymore. they had a lady pull a gun during a pop warner game and start shooting. luckily she was a bad aim and didn't shoot anyone.

I feel your pain. I work for Agony Airways. I'm waiting to be forced out of Pit for the second time.
I don't think being anywhere in Warren would be a problem on a Sunday morning, but I did find another Byzantine church in Boardman.
Byzantine Catholic Archeparchy of Pittsburgh
It's between Western Reserve Rd. and 224 on South Avenue. Nice looking church in a good area.
This link might interest you too. index If I was a kid, I think I would rather play in every single game for a decent team, instead of sitting on the bench for an undefeated team.
Mahoning County, Ohio
This link is our County website. It tells you assessed value, yearly taxes, school district, and what it last sold for. Plus much more information. You can search by owner, address, or just a street name.
Try these roads for SR schools. Pine Lake, Roller, Middletown, Calla, Western Reserve, or Old Country Lane.
For WR schools try Ellsworth, Gault, Palmyra, Bailey, Duckcreek, Leffingwell or Mock.
I haven't heard of any lyme disease problems in the area, but the malaria is running rampant. I'm just pulling her leg. Everything is fine here. Don't let the name of the lake fool you.

Haha! Not to laugh, but most of Warren i perfectly safe, it's just like anyplace, be smart, lock your doors, keep an eye on your surroundings.
Granted, Warren is a shell of its formerself, (the pop. has probably dropped by at least 20k over the past 30yrs.),but it's not really all that dangerous. Of course there are areas to stay away from, but it's definitely safer than most of Youngstown. For sure there are neighborhoods i wouldn't venture into, but if you aren't living in Warren you probably would only be going to the nicer areas anyway.
If you drive down Rt. 45 (Tod Ave) from Warren to Lordstown, you will probably see the worst side of town. I just drove out to Lordstown yesterday using that route and it was really quite sad. I never feel scared driving that way, i just make sure i don't venture down side streets over there. Besides, i know there are a bunch of old and/or poor people living over there. It's unfortunate that they have to live along w/the gangstas and druggies that live in that area.
Warren is like a lot of towns in NE Ohio and Western pa, an old beat up steel town. A co-worker may have suggested you stay away from warren because a lot of people around here think the schools are terrible. Going into warren for church and shopping is different from living there and sending your kids to the city schools. I feel like Warren is a good place to live if you don't have kids. Although, i do have a few g/f's from high school that live in Warren and send their kids to Lincoln Elementary on the Eastside and they love it. Warren is also getting brand new schools which is nice.
Picture Detail Lincoln Elementary
I myself live in Warren and i feel completely safe here. I shop on Elm road all the time and my friend and i go for walks downtown and along the riverwalk between summit st. and Perkins park. You'll find that the NE side of town is by far the nicest and the safest area. I'm pretty sure the churches you are talking about are right near me on the NE side. Also, parts of this side of town are in the Howland school district which is very desirable.
I realize that you don't know the area, but you should check out the parks, packard music hall, the ampitheater, oh yeah, and you definitely have to try out The Hot Dogge Shoppe! Yummy! Warren also has some pretty good family restaurants as well. Oh yeah, and Warren has 2 Drive-in movie theaters, i only go to the one on elm road.
Here are some links on warren:
City of Warren, Ohio
The National Packard Museum - Warren, Ohio
W.D. Packard Music Hall
Welcome The Italian Fest......There is also a Greek fest and African American Fest
Historic Sites
The Mocha House Yummy!!!
You also might want to check out Enzo's (Italian), Cafe 422 (Italian), Buena Vista Cafe (Greek fried chicken), oh yeah, and i love Alberini's Restaurant- Dining at its finest! in Niles!
That should hold you over on the Warren Info. Hope i didn't take it too far!!
Oh yeah, and to answer your question about Mosquito Lake, i have never heard of lime disease being a problem. Warren and some of the surrounding areas get their drinking water from there. I thought lime disease was something spread by ticks??????
Also, i totally understand the stress you are going through right now. After Delphi filed for bankruptcy i felt like i was riding a roller coaster for over a year, very stressful. I kept asking myself........Am i going to have a job? will i have to move? will i be able to sell my house? How much money will i make? etc. Thankfully, i left that place w/a buyout.......as soon as i signed my papers i felt relieved. I did still have to sell my house, but that worked out as well. Everything will work out! Be glad that you aren't alone in this, there are lots of us out there! Good luck!

Canfield offers great education and a variety of activities for all children. Even though it is considered a larger school by many, there is still that small school feel. Everyone knows just about everybody. Yes, Canfield can be cliquish, but you'll find that anywhere. I have also heard great things about South Range schools, but I am not that familiar with them.
