Moving to Shreve, Ohio from Honolulu, Hawaii.
Hey...me and my husband are making the big decision to relocate. We are currently in Hawaii and both employed by the army. We get out in 2010 and is planning our move. I am also currently going to the police academy and my husband is a mechanic. It is kind of early but considering the facts we want to be ready to go...my husband is originally from there. Graduated from Dalton High School. We are trying to buy a house out in shreve. I'm still a little unsure about the surrounding areas. If anyone could please let me know of any jobs, or houses for sale it would be greatly appreciated.

Houses for sale
You can look at realtor.com or look at the classifieds of local papers (I do a google search for "ohio newspapers" - one of the first sites you'll hit has a statewide list for papers).
As for jobs... a lot can change between now and 2010, especially with the job market. To keep an eye on the job market, you can do a complete search through vast.com (this will pull information from several sites, including monster and careerbuilder).

We moved a year ago from near Shreve, Oh to Hawaii. Things are so economically depressed there right now. High unemployment rate. And its a very rural area. Good luck

You might do alright..........
The occupation is more important in a lot of those Ohio counties than the general state of the economy. Mechanic should be able to find a job. Police officer might be more iffy. Something medical would be better.
Many of those types of Ohio counties, folks can live there by doing something associated with the transportation industry. Either drive truck, mechanic or some job associated with it. Maybe a lil light farming on the side.
True of much of SE Ohio, you got to know how to plug into what is available. Being born in the area, raised there and knowing all the right folks will not hurt. Lots of it gets offset by the cost of living and far more reasonable expenses. If you can commute to where ever, usually can make it if determined enough.
Yeah, I lived in Hawaii way back when in the Navy. Moving out of Hawaii to good olde Ohio is a good choice. Islands are horrible places after so long if you were not born on one. That certain type of cabin fever does have a way of setting in. Good four season climate can feel good after that one season Hawaii experience, too boring.

I live near Wadsworth, and sometimes go down to Shreve to eat an Amish restaurant in town there. I am always impressed by how well-kept all the homes in Shreve are. People there seem to be very responsible about keeping their houses in good order. There is a nice lake (Shreve Lake) about a mile outside of town, which you can fish in or take a row boat on. It is in Triway school district. I think most people that live there probably work in Wooster.
Despite the Amish restaurant, I don't think there is really much of an Amish population near Shreve. They live more in the eastern part of the county and down in Holmes County.
