Default Your opinion is appreciated!!! - Youngstown (Newport Neighborhood)

I have been looking for the right house for a long time and finally found one that I want to buy. It is on Midlothian Blvd, in the Newport Neighborhood in Youngstown.... between South Ave and Rush Blvd. I have read so many different things about the city that I would appreciate your help! Is this a decent neighborhood to live in?

I wish I could help you, but I don't know the south side neighborhoods that well. From what little I do know, I'd say it's an OK neighborhood. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. Hopefully, someone who knows more about that area can help you.

The area you described is in the 7th ward. So, here are a couple links you might find useful.
7th Ward Citizens Coalition Inc.
John Swierz - 7th Ward City Council - Home <-- He is very involved in his ward. I think, if you contacted him, he would be very helpful.

Not too bad an area, but Midlothian is a very busy street. Not sure, if thats a place you'd really want to live. Try some areas to the south of Midlothian instead, anything north of Midlothian I wouldn't touch with a 10 ft. pole.

north of midlothian is the wrong side of the street, and you will be north of midlothian if you are in youngstown. only get the house if you don't mind having a hard time flipping it. living there would be hectic.

I just saw a blurb on the local news about Midlothian, and Rush. They are having another round of people breaking into cars. The story turned into a commercial for the after market alarm companies.

This stuff (if it's the stuff I've heard about in the Brownlee Woods area) occasionally happened where I grew up, too. (in the suburbs) Bored teenagers stealing hood ornaments, loose change, anything valuable sitting inside, from unlocked cars. My mom was too poor to have anything worth stealing in her car, so they just wrote obscenities on the windows with some sort of grease pencil.
