I can agree with that too.

I think when most people from out of state think of Ohio the main city they think of is Cleveland. When I was in other places like NYC, Detroit, Washington D.C., Philly, etc. they all knew where Cleveland was and thought it was the largest place. Probably because of all the sports teams, and Cleveland was once the 5th largest city in the country.

Cleveland needs to start doing better and growing again. The population of the entire metro seems to be leveling out more instead of decreasing so much like its been since before the 70s. The city is still losing population but it also seems to be leveling out a little bit.

lol ... I'm not sure how one could prove this or how scientific it is as there's so many loose ends.

If there's much difference between being the 5th largest or 6th largest at one time -that I don't know. lol.

Im not saying that it was proven I was saying thats what I noticed when I went out of state. They would always ask me where I was from and I would say Cleveland and people always seemed like they knew about and a few people thought for sure that its the biggest place. Im not talking bad about Cincinnati or Columbus, Im just stating what I observed.

Cincinnati was once the 6th largest? That may be true but that was quite a long time ago (1840-1850 to be exact). Cincinnati grew before other cities did, its one of the oldest cities in Ohio. Cleveland was in the top 7 from 1900-1950 (5th largest in 1920), Cincinnati hasnt even been in the top 10 since 1900, so its not really relevant. Cleveland was also in the top 10 from 1890 to 1970.

Cincinnati once had a population of about 600,000 at one point. But Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus are all popular cities that are known across the country. It is not just sports teams, but large companies and large economies are here. Making them on the map for people to see and visit.

In fact, Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati are popular places for NE folks to move to. I was talking to a couple in Boston a few weeks ago that was moving to Sagamore Hills, Cleveland suburb, in May.

Yes, it's true. Cincinnati was in the top 10 most populated cities for 70 years. Cleveland was the top 10 for 80. Cincinnati held it's #6 spot for 2 decades and Cleveland held it's #5 spot for 1 decade.

Both cities started to rapidly decline.

Whether it was 1970 or 1870, I was just playing off your statement ... nothing more. You bring up the year 1970, remember, this is only 5 years after the Voting Rights Act of 1965 took effect to protect blacks from voting ...

LOL I got a PM telling me if I would like to become one. Some people had requested that I be one. I guess since I try to help everyone out. Not just in my little area called Cleveland.
