I'm a recent graduate who will be working in Akron. I did some research on apt. and got one near Fairlawn (5 min to shopping/restuarant/bar). It's 15-20 minutes from where I work.
I haven't talked to anyone regarding Fairlawn (all I did was little research). I think the area looks really nice. Anyone that lives in that area, can you tell me what's it like? I want my place 1st year to be an easy commute. However, I'm willing to look farther into Canton or other areas my 2nd year. Any suggestions? |

Fairlawn is a nice upscale area with good shopping, movie theaters, and restaurants. It's a good place for anyone new to get his bearings on the area, and convenient to major highways.
PS. Canton is an armpit. |

Fairlawn is a very good area. I recommend it highly. Close to nature trails, university, shopping, restaurants, great schools. Wishing you the best!

yes, fairlawn is very nice. close to akron if u want anything in the city, and fairlawn has very nice restaurants, shopping, etc as mentioned before. it is also close to cuyahoga falls which i like alot because the downtown is cute and friendly. i live on mull ave close to 77. its right before getting into fairlawn from akron, and close to the freeway (i used to work in richfield and the commute was only 15 mins).
there are places close by also that dont have all the "mainstream" restaurants and stores. such as highland square. its a little area uptown from akron and small, but it has some restaurants/cafes that are small business and not big names. also, a diverse population and younger adults if you like that like i do. |

We're also relocating to the Akron area for jobs within the next month. Fairlawn is very nice and everything is within an easy commute around Akron! We're going to end up near Medina because it will sort of be a centralized point for employment. Medina was also a nice little town.
Loved it out that way .. can't wait to be there full time! I'm just itching to get out into Cuyahoga Valley SP to explore. ![]() |

First I was gonna live in Stow...for some reason I found Fairlawn to be more attractive. Like everyone else said, it's near Sand Run Park, restaurants, stores etc. I wonder what's the night scene is like in Akron or Fairlawn.

We lived in Stow back in 97-98. For me, it is too built up & busy now. But, I guess you could say that about Fairlawn too. LOL As for the nightlife, I'm married w/ 2 kids & a homebody, LOL, but my sis has hit the club scene for a bit. Downtown Akron is supposed to be good, but also the valley, right by Fairlawn, is a big hotspot too. =) There are alot of clubs there too. =) Feel free to PM me w/ exactly where you will be & I can tell you what's around it & how close you are to the valley. =)
