I am in SW Ohio. My last visit to Newark was about two years ago. I went for a visit to Hanover Cemetery. That is where a lot of my relatives are buried. As far as relating to political things, I just don't go there. Not to often anyway. I am to busy living my life in spite of some ills. Life is just to short. I will tell you one thing if it is between me and my family and then I will protect them and this way of life at any cost.

Unhappy Buddy...

I remember an old show... The SWEETS of San Francisco
I remember when Looney toons was something other than the California Democratic Party.
I remember It never Brains in California.
I remember the California Angelos.
joe Friday used to catch criminals -before the ninth Circuit Court decided it is illegal to capture criminals.

All of this is just fine, But I cannot remember when California was Buddy-free...

Default SisterLinda

Did you go to school in Nerk? I did, and Buddy would have if schools had been invented while he was young. I grew up on Hudson Avenue and went to Roosevelt and then Nerk High. I have one sister in Granville and another two in columbus, one in Jersey and a brother in Toledo. Parents buried in Nerk, but all the kids have left.

Hudson Av. is now a Historic District. Kinda like you, historic. Back when you was a kid it was a dirt Lane with horse doo doo on it.

Default Hudson

Depending on who you talk to, I am the history of hudson Ave. But then, only if you count family, neighbors, the police, the fire dept, total strangers and stray dogs....

I do remember that many of the streets in that area were still brick -don't know about now, but Kibler, Charles and Elizbeth were all brick back then. Of course, trains were steam locomotives with the billowing black smoke then, too...

First school in Newark I went to was Hartlzer. I spent a year at Central Jr. High. They built a new and had to spend my last two years at Ben Franklin Jr. High. I did my three years at Newark High and was the last graduating class to come from the old high school.1960 a good year.
The Coventry's lived on Hudson Ave. for a long time. David was a good friend for a long time. When I was a kid I used to walk up to his house from the south end. Some times we would go to the pool or just played around his big house. Jim you live in Ohio or CA. You sure know a lot about CA. I spent two years in Ill. eight years in PC Fl., four years in Miss. and I was as happy as can be to get back to Ohio. I have been here the past thirty years. Now I just go visit people in other states.
I am going to check out the site Buddy suggested.

Buddy, I went to newarksattic.com and immediately saw why you want us to visit the site. In the picture on the homepage of West Main Street, if one looks carefully, we can see Buddy standing outside on the sidewalk of what will one day be the Sparta waiting for some of the wonderful homemade candy that will be made there.

To those who go now to see what Buddy looks like, remember that this picture was made in the late 1800s and Buddy was still just a young man in his 40s... Might look a bit different today since his sex change operation.....
