Default Limited Experience with Elyria

My experience is over 10 years ago but I believe this is still accurate. Basically it was a blue collar town which was economically struggling. Many older and modest homes in the city. Lorain has some areas near Elyria with somewhat nicer homes, my experience is that the area of North Ridgeville to the east and Amherst to the northwest aren't bad areas to reside:

I have lived in Lorain all my life. I am in the process of moving to Warren. There is not much work here and the schools are not very good. Lorain is cutting over 250 teachers this year. Not good. What specifics are you looking for about Elyria? I, myself , do not care for the city. I only go there to go to the Midway Mall and for other shopping, which is not much. There are cities around Elyria that are much nicer, like North Ridgeville, Grafton, Lagrange, and Amherst.

If your moving to elyria the Eastside and Northside are like suburban areas especially the Southeast side. stay away from South-Central especially near West Avenue and Middle Ave and stay away from South-West.

Not sure why you are interested in Elyria/Lorain County, but I grew up there. Another poster is correct, North Ridgeville, Amherst, or Avon Lake are probably the better areas to live in Lorain County. After spending the first 23 years of my life in Elyria, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather NOT live. Very conservative, blue collar town. No major businesses, not much in the way of entertainment, etc. There's really nothing here except maybe low real estate costs. I moved away when I was younger and have no desire whatsoever to return.
