Buying a home in LIMA, OH..... (Findlay, Wapakoneta: to rent, insurance, crime rate)

What areas should I stay away from when looking at houses? And what areas are more favorable to live in. I am currently looking at homes in the 45801. Your thoughts?

I have only lived here for close to 2 years but I have noticed the Elida area is very quiet, serene, & attractive, and only minutes from the mall and town area. It seems to me that the inner city of Lima has to much chaos: drugs, traffic, people and noise to consider home buying. I personally prefer Elida. Shawnee and Cridersville are quite nice as well. Delphos is also worth looking into.

I have resided in the 45801 area for 18 years, also known as Bath Township. If I were you I would search elsewhere for a home to rent/buy. Our home has been broken into twice in 6 years, once in 2000 and again in 2006...both times in August, in broad daylight! In 2006, our Insurance Carrier said that a total of 12 homes in our neighborhood had ALREADY been broken into and the date of our break-in was in the first week of August. As far as I'm concerned Lima has turned into nothing but a den of theives
and druggies. With NO good paying jobs (and what are good paying, you cannot get hired in at), this is what Lima has become: fast food and retail, both of which you cannot subside on, in and of itself. The pay is low and the hours are VERY minimal. Findlay, Wapakoneta, Delphos, Ada and St. Mary's are ALL nice clean towns and no where near the crime rate as to what Lima has. Steer clear of this area (45801) by ALL means!
