Does anyone know where I can look up areas that allow and forbid putting up a home for rent and where to report infractions? I just noticed a home down the street with a for rent sign in the yard and being that I purchased mine, I'm not crazy about the potential element that could move in.

I know about the fair housing laws btw.

I don't believe zoning addresses renting. CC&R's MIGHT address it, but usually not.

I've never heard of city zoning prohibiting you from renting out your home. Assuming a single family renting a single family home. Now if they are dividing it up and turning it into multi family housing in an area zoned single family, you be able to do something. If you are in an HOA, there could be something as Goodpasture mentioned.
