Default Any info on Shawnee? Also seeking possible rental

I'm up for an interview on April 22nd in Shawnee and it's a great job which I already have experience in. I'm starting to do research on the town. If I'm hired, I am going to need a place to live that allows dogs and children. The children will be visiting on weekends because their mom still lives in Wichita, KS. We are married so she's given me a year to explore Oklahoma since we don't know anyone in the state! I would like a lead on a rental property that is maybe near or in rural parts of Shawnee that allows dogs (as I already said).

Is there any other things I should be aware of about the town?

Hello TedH71,

Shawnee is a good place far as I am concerned. It is growing, and is starting to spread out.

It has the basic amenities, and along with that growth, there is some crime. Nothing like Wichita, thank god. There are plenty of good housing to be had and you wouldn't have to live right in town.

I worked there for a year or two and always liked it. I don't have any leads on rentals, but if come across any web sites, I will send them to you.

Thanks! Looks like they finally found an interpreter (I'm deaf so I sometimes require an interpreter at meetings, interviews, and such) so I'm tentatively scheduled for an interview on the 14th. Ran into a nice older American Indian grandma while eating out at Burger King in Norman (was driving through I35 on my way from Texas)...my kids were playing with her grand kids and she was telling me how nice and calm Norman was and so forth. Made me really want to move to Oklahoma! Now, my main concern once I get the interview done and get a job offer is to find a place to live that allows dogs :-) Will let yall know if I get the job or not.
