Im sure Whole Foods had the same in mind. Tourists dont need nice grocery stores to go along w nice retail. What was I thinking...

Watch OKC/Nichols Hills or Midtown open another. This new Whole Foods is going to get smashed w customers. The only reason Whole Foods selected the location was bc of all the fantastic new development by Aubrey which includes lots of retail. Notice that an Anthropologie is opening up in the Triangle development next to the Whole Foods. The Classen Curve development also has some rather nice large retail also. And dont forget about Western Ave, Nichols Hills Plaza, Penn Square Mall and the Waterford complex which has a 4 star hotel. The store is surrounded by high end shopping on all sides. NH is basically becoming a lil highland park w a huge oil company next to it.

There's one on St Francis and one on Cerrillos. They are very close to each other. I believe the one on St Francis used to be a Wild Oats.

I tried to go to Whole Foods this morning, but the parking lot was full, and I wasn't in the mood to fight it out just to park. I figured that if the parking lot was full, the inside was surely a zoo. I just drove down the street and went to Sunflower Market instead. I had not had a chance to shop their yet and I figured the Whole Foods opening had taken some of the crowds away from Sunflower. It was pretty full, but not like I had heard it was before Whole Foods.

I was impressed with Sunflower. Excellent selection and some very good prices. I was thrilled at their selection of Boars Head products and their produce and meat departments were great.

The biggest problem I had with Sunflower was trying to get around all the people working there. There seemed to be people everywhere stocking shelves. Often there would be more than one worker on an isle. This store had narrow isles and it made it hard to get around, especially because the employees didn't seem to care that they were blocking customers from getting down the isles. I had more than one cut me off with their carts full of boxes and then block the isle I would be trying to go down. While trying to get down one isle, I had to stop because an employee was discussing a product with a customer. I stood there, leaning on my cart, waiting for her to step to the side a bit so I could pass. I waited, and waited. I know she saw me trying to pass, she looked right at me. Finally I just had to turn around and leave the isle and then come around from the other end to get to what I was trying to buy.

I'm sure it will get better as both customers and employees adjust to the narrowness of the isles. We are all so used to shopping at a place like Walmart with giant, wide isles. All in all, it was a great store. I can't wait until they open the one in Edmond.

I got a space the very second I got in the parking lot at Whole Foods. Must be my parking karma :P

I was impressed with Sunflower as I went there a week ago. Very good store, but Whole Foods is better in my opinion. I was impressed with the fresh produce at Sunflower. I liked Whole Food's fish selection. I agree with the employees being in the middle of the isles at Sunflower. There were multiple times I was avoiding the workers.

Does anybody know what that retail (i think) building they were building right next to Whole Foods?

Refer to earlier post. Its called the Triangle at Classen Curve and is set to open an Anthropologie very soon. here are some links that might help you understand the entire development/concept better...

I finally made it to Whole Foods yesterday in the middle of the afternoon and there had to have been at least 500 customers in there. I was there to do a sales call and wanted to at least buy a couple of items, but the lines were insane at every register, wasn't worth the wait for a sandwich and a drink. I will wait for the novelty to wear off before I go back or go just when they open.
Even though they do have a better selection then Sunflower, Whole Food's prices are more expensive.. especially some of the produce.

Keep in mind there is another place you need to check out for organic/healthy choice products; that is the Buy for Less on NW Expressway and Portland. Their prices are comparable to Sunflower, substantially cheaper than Whole Foods, and your not fighting the crowds and your clothes aren't out of date by the time you get thru the checkout lines. Buy for Less also has the best deli for a chain grocery store of it's type. This particular store is the "crown jewel" for all Buy for Less's. Check them out as an alternative. You'll be pleased.

I am glad that Whole Food's has finally arrived as well as Sunflower. It's a good step in the right direction for OKC, now if we can only get a decent adult alternative/singer songwriter radio station here.. not holding my breathe!
