OKC is a jewel
The worst thing about OKC is that the Oklahoma natives don't realize how nice it is here. Affordable housing, decent restaurants, and a thriving social area( Bricktown). The builders here are way ahead of the east as far as amenities and pricing in what I would define as luxury housing, especially in the Edmond area (a suburb of OKC). Good highways, low crime and climate, ( avoid July through August) make it a great place to live. Two hours to Dallas, 5 hours to Kansas city and 7 hours to Sante Fe give you access to major cultural areas within a days drive. I am originally from the East coast and would never move back to the Northeast after living here.

Perhaps the people of OKC don't realize how nice it is there because they're bored? Your message makes it sound like OKC is an in between point on the way to someplace else. If cultural areas are a days drive away then you're not living in a city, which I suppose was the point of the first post.
I don't think that builders are ahead when it comes to construction. Pricing is low because it has to be.

It is cheap living here and we have a good quality of life. That's just fine with me. I don't need to live in Tokyo.

Nameless, as much as I'd like for Oklahoma to get a pro sports franchise; they don't have one yet. Sure, they have minor league baseball, hockey, and such, which are actually great, but there is no pro sports franchise in Oklahoma. The only pro sports franchise was the Oklahoma Outlaws of the USFL (based out of Tulsa) back in the mid 80s. If you're talking about the Hornets, they still are based out of New Orleans and are only in Oklahoma City temporarily. Having said all of that, I do hope OKC gets an NBA team soon, and I think it may happen (Sonics?). There are some serious sports fans in OKC, and they deserve a pro sports franchise.
