I Googled Oklahoma City Mass Transit. The web site (gometro.org) has a young man wearing a bicycle helmet. Although I do see a picture of a bus on the page, so I guess they have more than just bicycles.

The "mass transit" system around here is a joke. Let's not kid ourselves, we all live in our cars.

Default Q: Is OKC really a C?

A: More like a B+.

Good philosphical questions, Check. It takes a long time to get the concept of Los Angeles out of one's mind as far as measuring sticks. To define OKC by Tokyo or NYC standards is not a comparison at all and only draws out personal preferences.

OKC is a whatever you want to call it. Our weatherman Gary England, calls it "the Big Town", some call it boring. Personally, I like it, but prefer the vast country side with miles of pasture land and trees. To think in the late 1950's my family lived around 87th and Crenshaw!

After about 10 years of living here in OK, the big city snobbishness wears off and if one is sick of the fast lane, ala So Cal and its counterparts, OKC is a welcome relief. I grew up in Los Angeles and I grew very tired of it all. It was the best place to grow up as far as having the beach, mountains, and mass hysteria (partying), but it becomes a grind.

I used to hate small towns, because I had bad experiences with racism as a child, but its really nice here.

We have a friend who lives in Spencer. And there is NOTHING bad or scary about her area. Her neighbors have horses, and she raises german shepherds.

And as for crime, I work in the criminal justice system here, and have a lot to say on crime in Oklahoma. But will only say this: My family is supported by crime!

This is truly a fascinating thread. Let me condense it.

Check123: Is OKC a real city?

Everyone else: Well, here are 15,000 reasons why it is a real city.

Check123: NO! YOU'RE WRONG! So is OKC a city?

Everyone else: Well, here are 15,000 more reasons why OKC is a real city and furthermore Oklahoma is not a poverty-stricken dustbowl populated only by people who attend tent revivals and handle snakes.

Check123: NO! YOU'RE WRONG! HERE'S A PICTURE OF MANHATTAN! So is OKC a real city?

Repeat until your eyballs glaze over.

If you ignore this jerk, he'll go away.

And for the record, I've never been to Oklahoma, but I'll bet OKC, Tulsa, and most other places in Oklahoma are filled with wonderful people and would be great places to live. I was asked to interview for a job in Tulsa a while back, and I turned it down because I was too small-minded to think I could "do" Oklahoma. Ever since then I've suspected that I made a mistake. I think I did, for whatever that's worth.

Default ha! o m g, it IS a city.

HA! good summary skills. I cannot say anything similar or else I will get "moderated".

15,000 and 1 more reason OKC is a B+. We don't question whether or not it is a city because our skyline does not look like NYC's.

My thoughts about Oklahoma City: I remember many years ago driving through the city on my way to Arkansas. Bricktown was a rundown, window broken, slum area. My dad would comment, "Let's just hope we don't break down any where near here!" Look at Bricktown now. Every time I come to town, there is more to see and do-restaurants, river taxis, trolleys, shops. Remember April 19, 1995? Oklahoma City rebounded and now has one of the most beautiful, moving memorials I have ever seen.
My daughter lives in Jones. It feels like she lives in Mayberry RFD and yet she is 15 minutes away from the 'mall'. She has the best of both worlds. I envy you all from Oklahoma City! My four favorite cities in the whole world? Amarillo, Albuquerque, Anchorage, and Oklahoma City!
Oh, but maybe they aren't cities?

They've done a tremendous job with Bricktown. I was up there for the first time last September and was amazed at what is there as well as what is yet to come. I'll be going up to OkC for business next week and will be staying at a hotel right in the heart of Bricktown. I only wish baseball season was upon us so I could visit that beautiful ballpark and take in a game. Although I'm a big fan of Tulsa, I'm glad to see OkC doing so well. The city is leading the state in development.

Default Is this for REAL?

Is anyone ?ing OKC is a city or not a city- boy.. do i need to have Stephen Hawkings evaluate this philosophical BS. I think he would probably fall out of his chair over that stupid pathetic question. this needs to be taken off the blog pronto. Thankyou for anyone who has even a bit of respect for the city.
