Default HELP! Relocating from Kentucky to Norman, OK

I am moving to OK to work at an architecture firm in Norman, and am in dire need of advice for apartments in the area up to 45 minutes away. I absolutely do not want to live in college apartments and am looking for something that looks like it belongs in this century and not with appliances from the 1980s. I am looking for something like the Park @ West Pointe but closer to Norman (I also have a horse so I need to be close to him as well) Any advice or help on newer complexes in the area would be fantastic! I look forward to joing the Oklahoma community!

One of the nicest new developments is Loft 401 on Campus Corner. It is brand new condos, very urban, walking to bars/restaurants. Maybe not what you're looking for though. LOFT401

The Renaissance at Normanis a new suburban apartment complex, on Highway 9 and Classen, probably closest to the area where there are stables toward Lake Thunderbird. The Renaissance at Norman

The Links Norman is close to Renaissance near SE 24th and Highway 9. It is a golf course apartment community. Golf Course Norman Oklahoma

You could also consider a rental house, there are many affordable homes and duplexes all over the city for rent, including in new suburban neighborhoods on the east and west sides.

There are 2 complexes in Moore at SW 19th and Santa Fe:
apartment homes in moore, oklahoma

Then just west of that there is a horse place:
Celestial Acres Training Center - 14200 South Western Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73170

No personal experience with either of these.

With so many horse owners in Oklahoma, i am sure you can find a place to board your horse.

Thanks for all the advice! I recently stumbled upon Crownridge of Norman...and its exactly what I am looking for. However there is a waiting list so I need a back up plan. Does anybody know of other apartment complexes that are similar? New-ish and away from the university?

The Renaissance is right across the street from Crown Ridge. While there are definitely college students there, I would not rate it as a "college apartment." Also, have you looked at the handful of complexes west of 35? That would be your best bet in avoiding the college crowd.

Thanks, I plan on visiting the Renaissance too. I am also interested in the Timberwood in OKC, however that will make it a farther drive to work for me. The main problem I am finding is the newer more modern apartments are in OKC, not Norman. And by new - I judge it based on the kitchen and it's appliances. (I like to cook so this is important to me) and thats where I lose the majority of apartments. I take one look at the kitchen and go running. This is probably why I am drawn to crownridge, timberwood, (providence plan, britton, and park @ west pointe- but these are at the top top of what I want to spend and a hefty commute). My maybes are Links @ Norman and Post Oak- which of course are both student apartments. I find that the newer built complexes (built at least in the 2000's) have a bit better selection and design with their units that make it more tolerable to live in. I just have a hard time finding the newer apartments due to the 40 pages of student housing before hand and since I am not in the area personally I can't drive around and see for myself.
