Wow, I thought Oklahoma was one of the nicest places I'd ever been to. People say their sorry if they bump into you, say excuse me, hold the door open, say thank you, sir, ma'am, and all the stuff I remember as a kid people saying. It does feel like a time warp a bit, but in a good way. I haven't even started talking about schools yet. OKC, may be a different story. With the density of people, more problems exist. However, I think those problems are fixable if people would stop looking for a handout and take on some personal responsibility. Well, that's what I was taught anyway - to be responsible for oneself.

As in most large cities, the majority of crimes here are committed in a few distinct areas. (There's an interesting map at okccrime.com.)

We like it when people who come on here and lie about things move back to their respective cities. Bye by now, and don't come back, you hear?

Dallas Crime Index: 726.6
Chicago Crime Index: 604.2
OkC Crime Index: 581.5

Oh, and the sum total of FOUR (yes, count them, FOUR) posts between the two of you before you come in here and trash OkC will weigh heavily on my decision on whether to give you an infraction for trolling.

Now how can you compare those statistics to the proper population of each city hmmmmm ??????? 3 million in Chicago,**500K** in OKC,1.5 Mil in Dallas. For a city the size of OKC you guys have a HIGH crime rate PERIOD !!,I invite ANYONE to look at recent FBI statistics. And this info was backed by one of your own OK county corrections officers.

Example:
I took a spring trip to Chicago a few weeks ago,I walked around Downtown and south and west side around 12-1 AM in the morning ya not the smartest thing to due but I wanted to test a theory with my OKIE friend/roomate who I invited to show a REAL city,And guess what NO problems.Lets see one of you do this in south OKC at the same time of night ???

Fix your 19TH century roads and bridges,Get a REAL transit system,Educate your kids BEFORE COLLEGE about diversity and culture,And for god sake's due something about your drug/povertie problems. WOW I see a pawn shop on every corner.

Your State Rep,Sally Kern's recent homophobic comment and state law on illegal workers have proved my point and to the rest of the country/world of the typical OKIE mentality,Thanks I owe you one for that.

Ya I only have 2 post what else can I share about OKC ?? The fact a prostitute flagged me down once on NW 5 and Penn or when my friend got attacked at knife point around 59Th and may,When his car broke down.

And Honestly only 15% of OKC safe and nice IMO and that's Putnam city area west of Lake Hefner parkway and FAR SW Moore city border.

<Moderator cut: personal attack>
once again the truth hurts and I invite ANYONE reading this to PM me before moving to state.I will tell them the GOD honest truth about Oklahoma,GOOD and BAD !!

Well, I have to say I have worked in Oklahoma County Jail, and there is crime in OKC, but also lived in Los Angeles and OKC. No comparison.
Most folks have no idea of the amount of crime which transpires in OKC and the entire state. But since it was my business to not only know the crime, but to talk to the criminals themselves on a daily basis, I DO know.

But, it is also common sense, there are a few areas to simply stay away from ~!at any time of day or night.~ And I don't let my work details make my life one of running around hollaring OKC IS UNSAFE! MOVE OUT OF OKC!

I can't believe anyone would take a walk in chicago at midnight to prove a point. Idiots, party of two.

But Windy, your posts are so overwhelmingly negative and only show one perspective. Its not all or naught. There are also nice areas and nice folks who live in supposed high crime areas. My nephew lives in SW OKC, which is prime South Side Locos turf. And he has never had any problemos.

Sorry to hear you friend was the victim of a crime when he broke down. And I seriously hope you get and move to wherever you want to be, because you are definitely sounding like you need it.

Once Oklahoma drives the illegal aliens out then it's crime rates will drop by 50% or more. Maybe they should be encouraged to move to the friendly city of Chicago where they will be greeted with open arms...

I would imagine the fair city of Chicago would have open arms to greet you as well. I just moved here and have a lot of packing and unpacking experience. I would be happy to offer packing tips for you. It sounds as though the sooner you have those bags packed, the better for you!

Where are you getting your statistics? Or is that just another shot in the dark aimed at illegals?

As far as our state prisons are concerned, there is not a significant illegal population.
I don't have an OKC county jail demographic handy, so I will only post the demographics for OK Dept. of Corrections. Courtesy of:
Oklahoma Department of Corrections

Oklahoma Department of Corrections - Demographics
As of January 31, 2008

INMATE INFORMATION
Total Inmates 25,141

Gender Count Percentage
Male 22,503 89.7% Female 2,638 10.3%

Ethnicity Count Percentage
Caucasian 13,584 54.0%
African American 7,563 30.1%
Native American 2,226 8.9%
Hispanic 1,644 6.5%
Other 124 0.5%

Crime Type Count Percentage

Violent 10,436 41.5%
Non-Violent 14,705 58.5%
Average Age 37.7

PROBATION CLIENT INFORMATION
Total Probation Clients 27,666

Gender Count Percentage
Male 20,789 75.1% Female 6,877 24.9%

Ethnicity Count Percentage
Caucasian 17,313 62.6%
African American 5,305 19.2%
Native American 2,033 7.3%
Hispanic 2,033 7.3%
Other 982 3.5%

Crime Type Count Percentage
Violent 4,895 17.7%
Non-Violent 22,771 82.3%
Average Age 35.4

Total Parole Clients 3,660
Gender Count Percentage
Male 3,048 83.3% Female 612 16.7%

Ethnicity Count Percentage
Caucasian 2,178 59.5%
African American 1,007 27.5%
Native American 164 4.5%
Hispanic 271 7.4%
Other 40 1.1%

Crime Type Count Percentage
Violent 609 16.6%
Non-Violent 3,051 83.4%
Average Age 42.4

The demographics show hispanic heritage, it does not show they are ILLEGALS.

The population of illegals in Oklahoma State prisons (OK DOC) isn't anywhere near what California is facing, but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to understand population demographics. So, I am not sure where you are getting the drop in crime by 50%. Maybe you can share the source.

I know Oklahoma incarcerates more women per capita than most other states. I hope you don't want to drive out the women too!

Your little outing in the middle of the night in downtown Chicago indicates at the very least a slight lack of cognitive abilities on your part. Since you wish to talk about size, we'll do a little comparison of murders per 100,000 people in each city; that should quench your thirst for "the facts.."

Murders per 100,000

Chicago - 16.4
Dallas - 15.0
OkC - 10.3

So much for your little experiment in trying to tell us how much more crime ridden OkC is than Chicago. These are per 100,000 people and not for the cities as a whole wise guy.

Now, go pack your bags quick, there's probably a gang banger up in Chicago waiting for you at the bus station. Make sure you check out the area between the times of 12 midnight and 1.. I hear that's when the bad boys are out in force in the "Windy City," since you like to experiment.

Now I know why it's called the windy city; people from Chicago do have a lot of wind for sure, it's just the wrong kind.

And I'm not your friend.

Now Git!
