The entire family is looking forward to our upcoming move from Ft Worth to Edmond. Already have tickets for our first OKC Thunder game and looking forward to some baseball in the summer with the Redhawks. Got any recommendations for "must" try restaurants and other local activities?

Avoid chains for a while while you try everything local out! There are lots of great local places to eat, especially if you're willing to drive into OKC. A few great family-friendly meal spots are Tucker's, Iron Starr Urban BBQ, and Big Truck Tacos.

Here is a good place to start to find local restaurants and shopping: Welcome to Keep It Local OK! | Keep It Local OK

You can also take a stroll through the UCO campus and downtown Edmond to get a feel for Edmond's identity besides "wealthy bedroom community."

In Edmond, there are several places to try.
Italian Jim's-great pizza and Italian food, connected to Bella Forte glass blowing studio-very fun to watch
Flat Tire Burger
Othello's (I personally hate this place, but lots of people love it)
Steve's Ribs
Cow Calf Hay (Cafe, get it?)
Hideaway Pizza
Ted's Escondido, (another place I hate, but lots of people love)
Boulevard Steakhouse - expensive, but very good
I agree with Cafe 501 in Edmond. They have an OKC location in the Classen Curve as well, but I've not tried it.
I've also heard wonderful things about The Signature Grille and the Bayou Bakery and Grill. I've never tried either however, so I'm not speaking from personal experience.

In OKC
I agree with Big Truck Tacos (I LOVE their breakfasts), Iguana Grill and Tuckers. I like the one on 23rd much better than the Classen Curve location. Food is the same, atmosphere is better on 23rd.
Nonna's
Gabriella's
Saturn Grill
Red Rock Canyon Grill
Mamma Rojas
Cheevers - one of my personal favorites
Republic
Paseo Grill
Red Prime (high end steakhouse)

I prefer Alverados (in Edmond just diagonal across the street from the Fire station on 2nd steet on the UCO Campus). They also have a location in the city that I have only been to once. Nice little sit down restaurant, fairly priced, good food. I have been a regular customer there for over 12yrs. I tried Teds but you sit soooo close to the table next to you that you could reach over and share their food and the noise of everyone talking is deafening. Have to yell to have a conversation at your table.

Home Run Sliders. It's locally owned eatery in Downtown Edmond. They have specialty burger sliders and 25 different kinds of ketchup.

Are they still there? I know the Pita Pit, next door, went out of business and I just don't remember seeing HRS the last few times I've driven by the location. It could still be there for all I know though. I've never eaten there, and honestly it never comes on my radar.

Go there mainly for the atmosphere. NOT for the food.
