I have explained this on other forums. You can find it in the sports section.
But here is a link that might help you understand what is currently happening. In a nutshell basically The Sonics which are owned by (lets be frank) OKC are in a court battle to get out of their lease and move the team to OKC. The local OKC group wants to settle it through arbitration. This would allow them to buy out the lease that Seattle is holding them to so they can bring the sonics to OKC. The case instead went to the supreme court for a ruling....So we have to wait for the verdict. But either way the sonics will be coming in 2008/09 or 2010. Bennett filed for relocation to OKC and is moving the team....Its just a matter of time. Seattle really just wants to get more money out of the ownership for the lease. Part of the deal is if Bennett and crew leave the name and colors of the franchise in seattle it would hurry the situation. But again Bennett has filed and has spoken publicly that he is relocating the team to OKC and no other place.Period. He says he will relocate now in the next year or until the lease expires at the Key which will be 2010. Either way they are leaving its just a matter of time. Many just dont want to believe that OKC can do it. That is why the move hasnt been sold to the nation...

This will help...
