Edmond or Norman
We might be moving back that way next year and was wondering which town is the best..And, is there one more prone to tornadoes? Is housing the same price in both towns?

Edmond has had more tornadoes in the past than Norman. I don't think the cost of housing is different.

Both towns are great. It would be a tough decision for a newcomer by just getting info via web. I would try to check out both towns in person and see what you like. The towns are very different. Norman has a population of almost 100 thousand and Edmond has a pop of around 65-70. If I were new to the OKC metro then I would go with Edmond especially with a family.
Norman is obviously a college town and some of the best parts are close to campus. Norman has good public schools/Edmond has the best public schools (maybe in Oklahoma). Norman is a little prettier because it has older architecture, great museums, and lots of huge trees. Edmond has better public facilities for children and young adults although Norman is catching up in that catagory. But Edmond also has big trees and small hills when you drive out east. Many developments in Edmond have made a transition to the east side of town. I think Im getting confused now!!lol.
You might want to check out OKC. Its a city on the rise. It obviously will have WAY more to do and although grit is through out the city.....Many great old historic neighborhoods will catch your attention. A lot of development has allowed OKC to change its image in the last decade and it really is something to look into. Good Luck
Oh, Peggy and Synopsis...I dont get into rep points very much. But I cant rep either one of you!!! I will keep on trying.

The area of Edmond east of Air Depot has been seeing a lot of development since it was annexed into the Edmond School district.
Happytown, you know you love those reps.

Norman is better for diversity but Edmond is overall nicer and it's not even close.
I also disagree that Norman is prettier. The area around OU is really pretty but outside of that Edmond is much prettier. The crosstimbers forest splits Edmond in half and it is rolling hills and trees which remind me more of south Tulsa.
That same forest stops about 2 miles east of Norman proper so the bulk of the city of Norman sits on an old prairie. The nice part of Norman is west of I-35 and doesn't hold a candle to the nice part of Edmond.
The forested area toward Lake Thunderbird is pretty (around Norman) but it hasn't been developed with ritzy McMansions like Edmond.
That being said, I went to High School in Edmond, went to college in Norman and I prefer Norman because of the University vibe. And the area around campus in Norman is truly pretty.

Norman has large established trees that are all over the neighborhood areas. Many trees have monster trunks and are huge because obviously Norman was established way earlier. Both towns are great..Tough choice. Just move to OKC!

I like those brick streets in Norman that are near the campus. It's great to be there on game day. If someone has any pics to post of the area please do. I haven't been there in awhile.

Total destruction in Norman/OKC. I hope no one is injured or dies because of these ice storms. Hopefully the elderly will be taken care of by someone. Bad situation.
On a less important note but still a really sad one for me because I am a tree lover. All the big beautiful trees all over Norman/OKC Historic areas with trees that are 60-80 years old have just been torn apart. Its absolutely horrible. Trees/Limbs that would take 50 years to grow have just been slaughtered.
