Default Young couple looking to move to OKC

I need help!
We are a newly married couple (25 yrs in age) and are looking for a new place to live. We prefer not living "in" the city, but would like a nice town outside of the city, but close enough to shops, restaurants, etc. (Someone mentioned Moore??)

Also, what is the traffic like? I was born/raised in Houston so I'm sure it won't even compare..

I have heard Tulsa is "so beautiful" ,but do the hills really make up for the amenities that OKC offers? I wouldn't mind pretty scenery, but we also love going to concerts, games, etc.

Thanks in advance for your help!

OkC is a fine place.
If you're looking for something outside of the city but within commuting distance Happytown is the best person to contact.

I've tagged him as the official OkC Ambassador. Tulsa is a little more hilly, and the amenities in Tulsa are fine. It depends on what you like. OkC is bigger, with more jobs, a thriving downtown, and such.

Traffic in OkC is NOTHING like Houston (you'll love it). OkC is a city on the rise, for sure.

The east half of Edmond looks just like south Tulsa except there is no river.

East Edmond has a "out of the city" look, with trees, creeks, small hills and wildlife, but you can get on I-35 and easily get to Quail Springs Mall or Penn Square Mall. Guthrie is just north of Edmond and is Victorian in look.

Tulsa has hills OKC doesnt...But both towns have their own character and charm. I would agree with Peggy about the parts of Edmond. It doesnt look anything like the city and has many charming creeks ect. ...Really pretty.

Is East Edmond considered "safe"? I realize you can find crime anywhere, but figured I would ask anyways.

My family is in central Texas and his is in northern OK so I would prefer OKC to Tulsa...I will research Edmond today!

Thank you

I would consider east Edmond very safe. The biggest problem would be if you were very close to I-35. There has been some crime by drifters from the highway. It is a very nice area.

Thanks Peggy. I haven't been to Edmond yet so I didn't know how close I-35 was to the neighborhoods. Good to hear!

Any neighborhoods you would recommend? Price range is flexible right now...would prefer something fairly new.
