I need some advice! I know there aren't alot of choices when it comes to ISP's here in the Metro/Edmond area but there has got to be something better than Cox Communications! Recently there have been internet outages once a week or more. One outage lasted for 10 hours during the workday and I work from home. I need to have reliable service in order to connect to my work VPN.

Are customers from other service providers experiencing outages as well? If these outages are isolated to Cox Communications, who would you all recommend as a reliable alternative?

We use DISH. It's not very fast (lower data package), but I've found it to be reliable.

I bought a Verizon MiFi hot spot for just such occasions. I have both Cox and AT&T and both have occasional outages. Honestly they are not that frequent but they do seem to happen when I need connectivity. Verizon is pretty good.

We have AT&T unverse. I can't speak to how reliable it is, because we've only had it a couple of weeks, but so far we've loved it. Really fast. Before that we had AT&T DSL. It was good as well.

Thanks! I didn't realize there was such a thing as MiFi but it sounds like the solution to my problem, especially if all of the companies around here are comparable (so many choices ). Do you know if it's compatible with a Shoretel phone as well? I have Verizon as my cell service provider so it should be easy to obtain.

No idea about Shoretel.

Just took a trip with my MiFi into some rural Texas areas and never did lose wifi connectivity.

Definitely AT&T Uverse. We moved from Edmond in Nov 2013, after living there 13 years. As soon as AT&T came into the market we got rid of Cox. We never had any problems with AT&T.
