NW OKC Pictures
I took a "few" pics while we were in OKC on business. It was a foggy dreary day, but I thought it was a look at what you really see around here, on a foggy day right after a terrible ice storm.
Icy bush in the Waterford area.
Waterford Hotel near NW 63rd & Penn
Icy railing in parking lot outside of Stillwater Bank
Pretty normal neighborhood in NW OKC. This is what I would call Belle Isle, looking west across Pennsylvania, probably NW 62 or 61st St.
Bellini's restaurant entrance, in office park at NW 63rd & Penn.
Pond as viewed from Bellini's patio dining area. Geese and ducks live in the pond.
These statues are decorated for every season. For Easter, they might be wearing bunny ears.
At NW 63rd & May, looking south. Why did I ever get in this left turn lane. So much traffic. We were going to the Mediterranean Deli, but now I don't think so.
Checking the area I grew up in after the ice storm, NW 57th.
Our old house looks pretty good, still. This is in the Coronado area.
Great place to get a burger. Our town would certainly look better if the electric lines were buried underground, and we wouldn't have all those power outages.
At NW 50th & MacArthur now, in Warr Acres looking south.
Heading south on MacArthur through Warr Acres.
At NW 39th (Route 66) and MacArthur, fixing to turn right and go through Bethany.
Bethany business district.
Southern Nazarene University in Bethany.
Another great place to get a burger.
If you want to see the whole set, look here:
Northwest Oklahoma City after ice storm (Set) I put comments on those pics too.

Peggy, thanks for posting those. I took a look at the whole set. NW OKC looks very nice. It looks more like the "neighborhood" type town I live in. I'm looking for something like that in a smaller town. OKC is all right, too, but I prefer a small town. But I would prefer a major city with neighborhoods than a development.

It would be a whole lot of pressure on me to find a house to buy in an unfamiliar area in 6 days. Maybe when you are here things will become clearer. I have some other pics to put up. Maybe they will make things a little easier for you when you are here. I might be in the metro area when you are here. Maybe we could meet and chat?

I would love that. You've been such a help. Yes, it is a bit daunting to have to make a decision like that in 6 days. But -- I have done that before though.

Hmmm. I believe I see Cattlemen's Steakhouse in my future between Jan. 1-6. I'm buying, anyone else game? I know they have lamb fries on the menu. I always get the filet myself, so don't expect me to eat any.

Thanks for the pics Peggy!
They sure don't remind me of Boston... That's a GOOD thing.

Good job there, Peg. As usual. I like your style of photography, so much better than those commercial photos of builidings. Your pics make me feel like I was riding along on your trip. There used to be an onion burger way up north by Memorial and I-235 *across from TLC.
I've always liked the Belle Isle area. I would live there if I had to live in OKC.
Colleen, you can get out of OKC by just a few miles and there are very decent places to live. I would go east or south.
I never cared for the Yukon area which is west of OKC. I don't have a valid reason for that opinion, though. Maybe it was the giant mushroom shaped water tower that says:
HOME OF GARTH BROOKS
like I really care about where garth grew up.
Bethany is nice, but I am partial to hermit lifestyle. We really don't have to interact with anyone where we live. Except when we choose to go to town.

Thanks, guys.
I like the Belle Isle area. I worked in offices in that area for several years. I would hit the garage sales on Thursday & Friday. It is a very good garage sale area. Other than that, it is the kind of area that you are close to stores and restaurants etc., yet once you are on the neighborhood streets, it is very quiet. Only problem with the area is OKC public schools.
I like the hermit lifestyle myself, but Belle Isle is one place I would live.
