Ya- I would concur. But the Sierra club isnt ignorant.

I think OKC gets slapped around a bit on this issue because it was originally very large to begin with. Also, having OU (The State's University)in Norman down the street doesnt help which automatically creates sprawl that no city could possibly control. I bet if OU were located in OKC it would not be 'so sprawling' to the south.

The north part of the metro has no excuses....Bad city planning in the past caused people to flee OKC to Edmond. Fortunately OKC has changed and is becoming more urbanized in its core by attracting people back to live in and around its Downtown...It will take more time but city officials expect a large population to be living in the Downtown area for the future. Its too obvious to ignore the absurd amount of construction as you travel along I-35 close to the downtown/bricktown area. The Block 42 condos almost hits you in the face going south along I-35 near bricktown. They expect to land a grocery store in downtown soon...That will be the tell all. If the city can concentrate more people in its core the population of OKC will grow dramatically.
Lots of future work needs to be done that is for sure!!

No, OSU is the state's university. OU would not want to have beaten OSU to that billboard term.

Ya- I have always thought that was a bad choice for OSU. They have a new one on I-35 near Moore. All orange with the slogan and Pistol Pete.

I will always have loyalty to my Pokes in BBall...I was honored to see many incredible victories in the early 90s including Big Country making his first 3 pointer which was a half court shot that won the game!! Gallagher-Iba Arena is so so posh with the banners ect. First class job by OSU. Voted the best arena in college sports. Oldest original floor in college basketball.

I see Atlanta is winning. We drove through Atlanta north to south last winter. Looking at the map, we thought we would be driving through the countryside. It seemed as though we drove through miles and miles of stoplights and strip malls.

In fact, Oklahoma City spills into three counties (Canadian, Cleveland and Oklahoma), and there's a sliver that pokes into a fourth (Pottawatomie). The city peaked at 640 square miles in the 1960s; a section in McClain County was later deannexed. (It's now part of the north end of Newcastle.)

I'd say Oke City is more of a "frontier sprawl", or maybe sprawl[ing]. All you gotta do is point your car west, put the pedal to the metal and in 15 min you're out on the plains. You can't do that back east.
