Neither Moore, Norman or Edmond have a small town feel. I'd try Piedmont first. Easy commute on the Kilpatrick turnpike. Piedmont still has that rural feel as they still don't have a single stoplight in town. It also has one of the best school districts in the metro area. Definitely a place to raise a family. Plenty of churches all over OKC. My two favorites are LifeChurch and Crossings Community Church.

Another town with a sort of small town feel would be Mustang. Quick commute Oklahoma City.

Yeah but Mustang is growing pretty fast. I also believe Piedmont will start to see some solid growth if the economy keeps up here within the next 5-10 years.

Mustang and Piedmont fit the conservative mold but they are both growing and their schools are large. Also, I think the 30 minute commute would be a stretch to Tinker from either town in Rush Hour.

A couple of places that haven't been brought up. Harrah is a bit smaller than most towns and has a nice small town feel. Dale is an itty bitty place but has an excellent small school and would be close to Tinker.

McCloud is also a small town that would work.

The only growth Piedmont will see will be in residential areas. Commercial growth is not coming to this town. Too many people that live out there don't want to see it become another Edmond or Yukon. While the actual school district population is growing most of that comes from areas outside of the city limits of Piedmont. Even with that it has one of the higher ranked school districts in the metro. I've owned a home out there for years even though I spend most of my time in Alaska. Geez, Piedmont doesn't even have a stoplight. Mostly the police department deals with stray cattle out on the roadway.

My family and I very much appreciate the advice and it has seriously assisted us in our search! We keep going back to the Coctaw / Harrah / McCloud area just east of Tinker. We like the slightly varied terrain and it seems to have some more trees than the west side of the city, but I could be wrong.

We are looking at 4 Corners Homes to purchase, any feedback on them as builders? Also, how about the area south of I40, East of Stanley Draper Lake and West of Shawnee Reservoir?

Again, appreciate all the feedback!

Yes, eastern Oklahoma county is in what is called the Crosstimbers which is a thick forest of very short trees. West side of Oklahoma is in the prairie. East is in the sticks.

The area east of Draper is mostly rolling hills and thick trees. Almost all of that is acreages and a lot of trailers and double wides out there.

There are some rough customers out there. I think the Choctaw/Harrah/McCloud/Dale area is wonderful. I really enjoy that area because it feels a lot like Arkansas over there. Fall foliage and the like.

I don't know much about McCloud schools but I think Choctaw and Harrah are solid and Dale is a wonderful little school if you want your children to be in a really small school.
