Lightbulb Whole Foods MEANS Healthy Foods

If Mayor Cornett really wants to get this state healthy then he would be getting in a Whole Foods Market! I've heard that one reason why their not in this state is because their stores sell wine and since thats illegal here then thats obviously putting a hindrance on them coming into OKC area or Tulsa.

Doese OkC have a Whole Foods market or Wild Oats? I think Tulsa has a Wild Oats and it's not that far of a drive from OkC if you are looking for health food. Just go there twice a month and stock up. That's something that would do well in OkC; a Whole Foods market or a Wild Oats.

It looks like we cross posted. What you are missing peggy is extremely high prices for foods and I mean extremely high prices. They have a whole foods not too far from our house here in Hurst and it would bankrupt me to shop there all of the time. I suppose it's good to look for specialty things but I couldn't afford to shop there regularly. Heck I can't afford to shop at Tom Thumb regularly. Tom Thumb is a pretty fancy store. We do Krogers here. The quality is good and the produce is fresh.

I have posted the proposal about OKC getting a couple of Whole Foods....One in Nichols Hills Plaza via major money by McClendon along with Sprinkles(upscale cupcakes) and one proposed by a local investor Grant Humphreys for Western Ave. NH Plaza will not have Crescent Market soon because McClenden has already bought the entire plaza including the church at Sherwood and Grand Blvd. and the owner of Crescent only has a two year lease which will expire as soon as the new construction starts. The all new plaza will be designed to compete with Highland Park at least that is what McClendon is aiming for(catch 22 IMO, I grew up on NH Drug and Crescent and it makes me sick, but the area will greatly benefit from the huge investment). It would be silly to think that OKC cant handle an upscale grocery store with a NBA team on the way...
Also Dtown will need a grocery store soon and that is another possiblity.

Whole Foods bought Wild Oats...So there is no longer a Wild Oats grocery store. I def like the name Wild Oats better than "Whole Foods".

I'm sure OkC could handle more than one or even two Whole Foods; you're talking about a metro area of well over 1 million people. Yes, I liked the name "Wild Oats" better than Whole Foods too. I wonder how well the one in Tulsa is doing. If it's doing well in Tulsa, that should be all you need to know that one would do as well if not better in OkC. More people, more of a market and more $$$$.

I think the one in Tulsa is doing great...Isnt it in Utica Square? Tulsa has always had the money to support a fine grocery store.
NH Plaza has had Crescent Market forever and is basically a Whole Foods considering how expensive it is. It is a real shame that OKC will be losing the oldest grocery store in the state. I hate when historical icons/institutions in our state go under for stupid reasons. OKC recently lost Beverly's near Penn Square Mall just because the stupid owners decided to call it quits. Also OKC lost Queen Annes cafeteria which was considered one of the best in the SW...All because the owner decided the rent would be to high after Founders was bought by out of state investors(I worked there in my teens and the guy just wanted to close down anyway). Cresent Market also made the same excuse "rent is too high so we cant stay open"...BS. Count it up...Cresent Market/NH Drug/ Beverlys/Queen Annes...Does anyone else have any more local institutions to add to the list?
