Synopsis, you will live in the country again. Sometimes it takes some time, but like Jessaka says, don't ever give up on your dreams.

Why Bother With Whole Foods?
For healthy foods, shop at Health Food Center, Akins, The Earth, Big Sky Bread, etc. Why support multi-billion dollar megas corps. Keep your money as local as possible. Better yet, shop at the Oklahoma Food Coop! They are OKC-based and carry only Oklahoma-made products. How's that for innovative! Forget about Whole Foods.

The Oklahoma Food Coop is a non profit group that connects sellers and buyers. You have to pay $50 to join, then you can order online each month. Then you go to your pick-up site to get your order. Everything is done by volunteers, so don't expect that much service. I am on my second order and I have liked everything I bought.

No, you have to be a resident of Oklahoma to join. I have really liked all the products I have bought so far. In fact, I think with the snow coming I will get out a package of special beef soup bones I ordered and start a broth for some beef stew, which is healthy and not high in fat.

Didn't Eddy's close at the end of the year? I read that the owners were retiring and didn't want to trust the quality and reputation to anyone else.
I'm sorry to hear about the Crescent Market. When Kurt Fleishfresser would have some unusual ingredient at The Coach House or in cooking classes, we could usually find it at the Crescent. In our early married years - early 70's - when you didn't find gourmet food of any sort in grocery stores, we bought frozen chicken kiev and cordon blue at the Crescent. Really fancy stuff for the time. And their ham salad...omigosh. somebody hang on to that recipe!
We're ready to leave western Washington and I want to move back to OKC. Sounds like I'd better hurry if I want a Crescent fix. Just as long as Braums is still there, we'll be OK.
OK, the origin of this thread was the OKC diet thing. Do you know Mick Cornett will be on the Ellen show tomorrow (17 Jan)?

Yes I plan on trying to make that appearance. I will need some sleep for a few hours on my private Concorde....
Letterman is lined up on that same day, so I most likely will be pretty tired.

I didn't know that cindycat. Is he going to be on to promote the diet thing? I haven't joined that because I'm too embarrassed to actually put into print how much I weigh!
