That was a good post peggy......
Do you all ever think that I-240 will ever connect to the Kilpatrick Expressway in the southwest and then connect to I-40 in the eastern part of the metro and make a loop type freeway as alot of large metros have..... |

I doubt it. I-240 intersects with I-44 right next to the airport, they'd have to do some major navigating around it. I'd be irritated to no end if they decided to close the "loop" there as well. There's far too much growth south of there for that to make sense. It's too far in the city, I don't even think I'd call it a loop. I certainly don't call I-240 a loop right now.
We basically have a half loop right now. The Kilpatrick ends at SW 15th st. But, you can get off there and take Sara rd down to Mustang where it becomes a 4-lane 70mph road again down to I-44 and then becomes a spur of the H.E. Bailey Turnpike and travels east as a 4-lane (parts limited access) to just south of Norman where it meets up with I-35 again. A new extension of the loop could follow along highway 9 on the southeast side of Norman then turn north somewhere around Anderson rd then intersect I-240 near the I-40 junction and continue north along the east side of Midwest City and curve back Northwest to meet with I-35 and the start of the Kilpatrick. I don't think this would happen for a long time though. There's areas that could use the loop, but some, such as Spencer, that don't need it. |

There has always been some political thing against a loop around the NE part of the metro from I-40 to the Turner turnpike or I-35.

In response to a member who said we don't do stacks like in Texas:
The I-240/I-35 interchange and I-235 and I-44 interchange will be a stack once they are reconstructed. These projects are now underway. Haven't been back to OKC since last March so I am not sure if they are finished with the right-of-way clearance on I-240/I-35. 6 Foot 3... When the Kilpatrick Turnpike completes its loop, it will not intersect with I-240. It will instead encompass the affluent areas in far south OKC by looping around the west and south of the airport, then it will cross I-44 and terminate at I-35 south of Moore. I don't like those stacks like they have in Texas. I don't like driving high off the ground!
I don't blame you for being confused, Colleen! |

The "high five" in north Dallas where highway 75 (Central Expressway) and I635 (LBJ Freeway) intersect is huge. The uppermost ramp is about 20 stories tall.
It feels like you are taking a highway into outer space. Lots of people seem to have a problem with driving on these but I don't. I could see how someone would though. Here are some pics: ![]() ![]()
