I hope this isn't a stupid question.......I see where OKC has 4 large reserviors in the metro as i think thats very cool as i love water recreation. Could someone give their thoughts of any of these Overholser, Hefner, Stanley Draper and Arcadia for thei recrational strengths i.e. best for jetski or best for sail or bike trails/camping etc...

Also on the opposite of my above question do any of them have areas where you can go just to relax if you don't want to swim or sail or ski etc...since i'm single at this time and until i meet a nice lady i will go by myself and just chill out if you catch my drift.....

thanks...

I haven't visited many of the other lakes in OkC, but Lake Hefner offers much more than just lake activities such as sailing, windsurfing (excellent lake for that!) and motorboating. There are restaurants, jogging trails and much more. Hefner is a jewel of an area in OkC. I've only listed a few of the many things that go on at Lake Hefner.

I hear Overholser is a great place as well. I'm not sure if this is 100% correct, but I heard somewhere that OkC has one of the highest concentration of lakes inside the city limits. Someone please correct if I am wrong.

I wish I could offer more 6/3, but I'm sure others that are more knowledgeable will chime in given time..

((((((Happytown)))))) this is Commissioner Gordan calling!

PS. Here are some good links to Lake Hefner, which is probably the premiere lake in OkC.

Lake Hefner is famous for sailing because of its steady breezes. Draper is good for dirt bike riding and riding horses. There is also jet ski riding at Draper. For just hanging out and pleasant scenery, Overholser is the best.

A popular sport at Lake Hefner is kite boarding. I see them out there all the time. Here are some pretty pics. Albert John Stichka

Now THAT looks like loads of fun. What size kite do they use? I could really get into something like that. Hefner is the perfect place too because of the wind.

They are pretty big, about like the size of those gliders.

Sometimes when driving by on the Lake Hefner Parkway I see the kite boarders flying high through the air.

Here's a video on youtube:
