I graduated from a Christian college (undergrad) and right out of college I lived in OKC. At the time my sister lived in Tulsa. She was completing her senior year at ORU, which is a very conservative Christian college.

I agree with the poster who said that OKC and Oklahoma in general, is not wildly receptive to outsiders. The reason probably is, not many people move to Oklahoma, unless they have business there. My first job was there. I joined an Evangelical church. I stayed for a year. Never felt fully accepted at church or at work.

Now my sister married someone from there in her senior year at ORU. His family was from Oklahoma and they were very reserved towards her.

I'd say that NC is a better place for conservative transplants who are younger. Also, maybe the northern panhandle of FL. Pensacola or something.

In NC you might check out Charlotte or Wilmington. SC - Myrtle Beach or Conway.

When I moved to OKC I was a pretty religious person, but the attitude, judgmentalism, and hypocrisy in the church crowd here has left a very bad taste in my mouth about conservative evangelicalism.

Meetup.com is a good outlet though if the OP isn't necessarily tied to church settings. I've made quite a few friends through that outlet myself.
Yeah, but there are several places in OKC where you don't have to be religious and can still make tons of friends. You'll be wanting to live closer to the core however.

What this guy said.
