Housing sites? Tools?
My wife and I are making the move to OKC from Dallas. She is starting her residency at the OU hospital in downtown..
In Dallas we have sites that allow you to select an area on a map (with the mouse) and it will show you all the houses for sale in that area. For example Ebby.com.. Is there a site like that for OKC? We are having a hard time getting a feel for the area. All the numbers and street names don't mean much, since I can't find them on a map!
Any recommendations for houses around the OU hospital? We like old houses .. and don't want to spend a ton of money (like most people).
Thanks!

U can check out mlsgateway.com, obeo.com, openhouseok.com and you should be able to find what you are looking for . If your open to new homes I have a couple in the Mustang /Yukon (west metro area) if you want to private message me I can send you links to the virtual tours.

Sounds like you are into old homes with character and trees that are older than ten yrs....Many are next to OUHSC. Here is a thread with pics of a neighborhood with old homes called Lincoln Terrace. A historical neighborhood close to the Capitol building/OUHSC/Governors Mansion/Oklahoma History Center ect.
OKC Pics
The area is also close to Downtown/Bricktown and many historical districts. Its urban living and it sure isnt a boring suburban edition with cookie cutter houses where you get lost, because you forgot what your house looked like. lol.
Here is a website with info.
This will give you a map ect...

You can search the real estate sites by zip code. The zip codes for Lincoln Terrace are 73104 and 73105. You might want to check 73106. Some of them will show you the location on a map.

Thanks
Thanks guys..
Which site can I search by zip? On the mlsgateway.com it can sort by development.. but that doesn't really help me much.
Is the OU medical center NW? SE? W? Those are the options mlsgateway gives me..

ahh..
I see.. zillow has the zipcode search. Doesn't look like it has all the houses up for sale that mlsgateway has listed. Who knows! So complicated..
Are 73104, 73105 and 73106 zipcodes "safe?" I know it is all relative to an individuals' threshold.. We have no kids, early 30's, work a lot at nights..
We own a house here in a suburb of Dallas that immediately after we moved in some kid on spring break came in an unlocked window (i just bought the house and didn't check every window!) So, I know that stuff happens.. but what are these zipcodes like?
We are pretty excited about moving to OKC.. I think we will plan a trip two weeks from now.

OU med center is northeast.
My favorite site is realtor.com and you can use zip codes there. I like to see the exact location of the house. The misgateway site was good too. I liked the way you could sort the houses by age, but the houses I looked at did not tell their addresses.
Since you are young with no children, you would probably like living in the "urban core" of OKC. People have different definitions but I would say north of 10th St. and south of Wilshire. East of May and west of I-35. If you look around on these threads you will find discussions about Paseo, Gatewood, Crown Heights, and other areas.
