As far as OKC being fat (hasnt this been thrown around before)....Obviously ALL of Oklahoma should take Mayor Cornetts advice, along with Texas. If you were to take a look at the top 25 cities in the last 5yrs, then the SW/MW are represented quite well.

Most major cities are on the list and it goes back and forth every year. Some towns fall or climb 20 places a year. It really is a joke.

The Major is definitely trying to up the ante in OKC or put it in a spotlight in many ways, including a surprize arena tax that could possibly fail and a new fitness plan for an entire city.
So now we can all have a chance to focus on funny negatives.

We did everything else so far, so why not lose weight too? We can do anything in OK!

I think as long as it's an encouraging voice from the Mayor and city that it's a good thing. Now, if he starts penalizing people for not being "svelt" that would be wrong. But to raise awareness and use himself as an example, I think that's good.

"Thus, dieting is just another piece of a cultural shift toward a new self-image and higher standards in quality of life. Civic pride seems endemic to the city's DNA. I've yet to meet a local who can't rattle off a series of statistics and accomplishments unique to the city".

Many of these "PIECES" are pieces OTHER cities can only hope to follow. Many cities have visited OKC to mimic the success which is a great indication of where OKC stands. Many cities can only hope to learn from OKC to solve major issues of their own.

It wasnt just a so-called fat article if one were to actually read it.
