That is why when she was so willing to automatically pay the vet fees I was surprised and accepted it. We didn’t see their dogs at all for about a month or 2 and now they are just out everyday.[/quote]

I suspect the neighbor has had problems with her dogs before; she is rude but will pay your vet bills. The dogs were taken away until she thought it was safe to bring them home.

I have a similar situation, two vicious dogs came after my 25 pound dog. I put him in a tree but they kept circling me and Louie. Finally my neighbor scared them away. We are new to the neighborhood and now we are the bad guys for calling animal control and the police. They have killed 2 chickens, 1 cat, treed my louie who was leased in his own back yard and malled a dog (probably didn't live). I can't stand it when animal owners don't control their pets!

We dont have issues with loose dogs in our neighborhood, probably because people here shoot them if they show any inclination to hurt anyone or any animals. People learn quickly not to let their dogs loose.

I asked the animal control if I could shoot the dog if they came back in my yard. I got connected to a detective that worked with vicious animals. She talked to the neighbor (who now hates me). No issues since. I thought about sending them a note explaining the number of animals that I KNOW were killed. I still don't know what to do.

I would like to know what they said about your wanting to shoot the dog if he comes into your yard. I hope it is legal. this neighbor will let her dogs out again; they always do. next time they could kill your dog. we have problems with pit bulls here killing animals, seven those on a lease. here are some safe guards: A walking stick, an air horn, a gun, but pepper spray is not too effective.

An officer told me that a guy isn't good unless you really know how to aim and shoot. a walking stick is great, and an air horn will blow them out of the water, you and your dog too.

best idea:

A cattle prod would be a good self-defense weapon.
