Hi,

Our family is relocating from Arizona to Oklahoma City within the next 4 weeks. We are looking at apartments to move into since its such short notice.

Is the 73134 Zip Code a safe area. We have 3 girls ages 13, 9, 6 and want to make sure safety comes first.

Please let us know.

Thank you

You might look into Yukon as it's a smaller town and not too far from OKC...The city of OKC is huge and you can drive 40 minutes and still be in OKC....I moved here 8 years ago from California and so miss the weather. May is the month to watch for tornadoes...I live in the North side of town and the homes are nice...Edmond is very nice; maybe look there...I regret not buying up there and it's only 23 minutes from OKC...

That area is perfectly fine. Not super exclusive but all fairly new. Typical suburban looking place. Mall, box stores, chain restaurants big fancy churches all through there. Traffic is pretty busy through there. Wouldn't think crime would be that high around there.

Probably as much or more than any other place in the OKC metro that area looks like generic upper middle class surburbia that you could find on the edge of just about any major city in the country.

I agree. I'm buying in South Edmond (less traffic). The weather here sucks, but you sort of get used to it. South Edmond is close enough to the city and some good restaurants, as well as being in the school district everyone wants.

Edmond works fine depending on where in OKC you work. 45-60 minutes one way gets old fast.

Yeah, it got old fast for my friend who drove to work to OKC from Stillwater until she found a similar job in Stillwater. 3 miles vs 60 miles made a big difference.

Yukon is growing and Mustang has the better school system. Some nice apartment complexes and I see for rent signs on houses in both. It all depends on where you work. Check potential commute routes during your actual driving time. The infamous term "safe" is relativ.
