It's everything the OP doesn't want. Soccer moms, the "best" schools, far from town. Its it's own bubble within the Okie bubble.

If you mean no bullets whizzing by like Midwest City, then I'll take boring Edmond. We've been living here 5 years and we like it. Close to shopping and other amenities... not bad.

OKC area is up and coming. A lot of growth you'll see in the coming years. A lot of ppl tired of Dallas traffic and roads I think are moving up here. Seeing a lot of Texas license plates. I only wish they'd leave their Dallas driving style down there. Dallas drivers pretty much sux.

I can't speak to Midwest City as I only drive through there on my way to somewhere else. Also, I'm not from Oklahoma. I prefer Belle Isle, Putnam Heights, and maybe south Edmond if I had to move there.

I hate to agree with you, but I agree with you. For empty nesters who are looking to conveniently access the vibrant parts of OKC there are better places to live than Edmond. However, old Edmond has some pretty nice housing stock if you want that type of feel and don't mind driving 20 to 30 minutes.

If you're living near Downtown Fort Worth, and love it, and seem to like urban things (like a Farmer's Market, ect), I would think you would like the older (yet nice, and tidy) sections of Oklahoma City that are mainly to the north/northwest of the downtown area, I think.

Oklahoma City is definitely getting nicer & nicer, and more impressive.
