Default Info on schools in or around Edmond OK

My husband may be relocating to OK. I thought I saw somewhere that there is a newer subdivision that the elementary school was right there. I love the idea of a close knit subdivision with the school, clubhouse, ect right there. Any info on Edmond and the surrounding areas would be greatly appriciated. Also any opinions about working for Chesepeake Energy is welcome!

I belive this is one of the newest Edmond schools, and there are new neighborhoods going up in west Edmond/NW OKC all the time. Unfortunately, the name of the neighborhood escapes me at the moment.

Deer Creek also has a good school district and if you move to far west Edmond you might be in the Deer Creek school district. My daughter's elementary school is off of Penn and Coffee Creek. About 3-4 miles north of the school I linked above and it is Deer Creek. Overall this part of town is quite nice mostly large homes, $150k+ alot with ponds, swimming pools, and parks.

thanks Prerunner! After reading all over this board, it is obvious that edmond and Deer Creek are both excellent areas to raise your kids.

Has anyone heard of "the grove" that is apparently the subdivision I saw online. I cant tell if it is fully developed yet or not.

You might want to look at Valencia. (I'm biased, I live there, and we love it.)
It is RIGHT by Westfield. However, the dividing line for Edmond and Deer Creek runs right through our neighborhood. So not all students that live in the neighborhood actually go to Westfield. They are building a new Deer Creek elementary school just on the other side of the neighborhood.
I teach for Edmond schools, and it is a great school district. Deer Creek schools are also top-notch.

This new school you speak of... is this the one that they are saying is going to be located in "The Grove"? Valencia huh? I will definitely check it out. I just want my kids at the closest best school possible. Thanks

Yes, the new Deer Creek School is located in or near the Grove. I don't think it is going to be done for at least a year or two though. Right now kids on the Deer Creek side go to Rose Union, I think. They are in the middle of changing their elementary school boundaries, so that is subject to change.

Thanks Cali! Yes I am not sure when this will all take place. We still have to sell our home here in Illinois... could be a while with the market the way it is right now. I am really getting excited though. It seems like Edmond/oklahoma City is a great place to live.
