Shadow, I have a 12 (almost 13) year old with Aspergers and a 7 year old with medical and develpmental issues, so I know what you mean. Evaluating school districts just becomes that much harder when you have to factor in IEPs and special services. I feel comfortable that the Edmond schools will meet my kids needs. I've also found some houses I like in Yukon and Mustang, but am still doing the research into the schools there.

@op:
all things true except for the rich part. Edmond is a great example of the overlending that caused the mortgage crisis. There's lots of people with BMWs and M-Bs but they lease. Edmond is all about the appearance of wealth,which is hilarious coming from people who send their kids to public school. If you want wealth, look in Nichols Hills. No billionaires in Edmond, but a few of the Forbes 400 in NH.

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to start posting.
Keep in mind that not every area appeals to every person. I'm happy as a clam in Mustang, but many people would hate it here. If someone is happy and comfortable in Edmond, good for them. If we all wanted to live in the same place, it would get very crowded.

Wish I never left
Due to a promotion I received, my wife and I moved to Oklahoma from New York. We rented a house in NW OKC for a year to research the area and make sure we were there to stay prior to purchasing a home. For our needs Edmond was an EXCELLENT choice. The people were incredibly friendly, anyone who complains about traffic in Edmond truly has no idea what bad traffic really means and the neighborhood ( Cedar Pointe) was very safe and family friendly. We loved every aspect of Edmond. While there, my wife and I had our first child and decided to move back to New York to be closer to family. Although that part is nice, not a day goes by that I don't regret our decision to move back. I would move back to Edmond in a heartbeat if circumstances allowed. I would highly reccomend Edmond as a great city to live in for anyone that is looking for the following;
1. Safe, friendly neighborhoods
2. Family oriented surroundings
3. Pleasent, friendly and polite people
4. Very affordable housing
5. Good schools
6. Convenience of shopping,restaurants close by without a city feel.
And about 20 other things I could list but I have to get back to work.

I also hail from LA and the traffic problems there. Give me Edmond anyday! "Bloom where you are planted".

I moved here from SoCal the summer of "07". I'm very happy in Duncan, but if the circumstances had been different I think I would have moved to Mustang or Edmond.

It's not that traffic is bad, its the people behind the steering wheels. The streets anywhere in Oklahoma are BARE compared to other, more populous states. Since the streets are soo bare, people think that they can drive reckless and fast, which translates to crashes, which causes the backups. Im not saying all Oklahomans are like this, but many are starting to act this way. Try driving through Chicago during 5 o'clock traffic. Its INSANELY backed up but the people know how to drive and they actually pay attention to the things around them.

I just moved here from Florida and the traffic is anything but reckless and fast.
