Edmond Why?
I spent all day there thinking I needed to move there because I have a child and he needs a better school than OKC. Well Edmond still horrifies me. I do not understand why so many people in this forum think and tell everyone else that is the place to live? If you are RICH, if you like traffic jams, if you do not mind there are hardly any sidewalks, if you like strip malls and car lots, energy consuming, cheaply built Mcmansions and blatant prissy attitudes then I suppose that is the place for you.

Hmmm. Just moved out here and have been house searching. Have not seen any of what you post...no traffic, no bad attitudes and most of the homes I have seen are beautiful and appear to be nicely built. I choose Edmond because of the schools, yes, but other reasons as well. And really, there seems to be hardly any shopping compared to where I moved from in socal...lol. Anyway, I hope you find the place you are happy with.

One man's pie is another man's poison. Good thing, or we would all be living in the same town .

I would have to agree with the traffic part, though it is not the worst some of the trouble spots are 33rd & Santa fe (currently due to construction), 178th and Western (4 lane intersection with NO traffic light, nobody can seem to figure it out), 15th and Santa fe, Santa fe and Covell, 2nd street from Bryant to Broadway (too many stop light in a short distance and is around UCO), just to name a couple. The roadwork in Oklahoma is horrific. Takes forever to do a mile of road. MOst of Edmonds roads are ok.. but once you are west of Western Ave they are pot holes everywhere and OKC's fix it to fill them in. Which only breaks up after a freeze/thaw cycle and causes more damage. The WORST is on 164th (15th) between Western and Penn. However, the roads west of Edmond are OKC so even though "Edmond" is growing to the west it is upto OKC to upgrade the roads.
Also, if you are going to visit the area or are looking to move there you will hear roads called by many names. 150th=33rd, 164th=15th, 178th=2nd=Edmond Rd, 192nd=Danforth, 206=Covell, 220=Coffee Creek. The name change occurs mostly between Western and Santa fe.
Also you could have an Edmond Address, but OKC utilities and Deer Creek Schools. I worked at 15th and Santa fe, on the west side of Santa fe and south of 15th. It is OKC, across the street is Edmond. If you have an emergency Edmond Police will not respond, you will wait for an OKC officer to come.

Sorry, but when I hear people complain about the "traffic" around here I laugh. Try sitting in gridlock for an hour on the 5 freeway (L.A.) to go 12 miles
It's all in your perspective. And for what's its worth, I LOVE Edmond

I don't see what's so great about Edmond, either. It's just a cookie cutter suburb, imo.

I would only leave Edmond for Colorado and that isnt going to happen so I am certainly happy here. Though I prefer to live in the country which is why I dont like traffic regardless of where/how bad it is.

I still live in SoCal and had to laugh about your comment. After driving the mean streets of LA, I'm sure I can handle any traffic OK has to offer...
Edmond is the area I've been focusing on as it seems like an area I'd like...Maybe the original poster made the comment to keep us here in CA....
