Wink Moving to shawnee

My family and i are moving to shawnee next week and know absolutely nothing about the area! we will be trying to find a rental as soon as we get there, so if anyone has a 2 bedroom.. I would also like to know if there are any areas that are not so pleasant. My daughter will be starting kindergarten this year- are the schools good? Is shawnee a family friendly town and is there anything to do? Any info would put my mind at ease, thanks!!!

I don't know much about Shawnee but it's gotta be one of the best places to live in Oklahoma because if you run out of something to do in Shawnee, Oklahoma City and all if offers is just a short drive away. It's also nice how Shawnee has a nice enclosed shopping mall just off I-40. I don't think you'll be disappointed about the move.

Welcome to Oklahoma and to Shawnee. It is a growing city with a lot to offer.

For the most part, Shawnee is a very nic place. There are only a few areas with that "not-so-fresh" feeling. But they are few and far in between. Also, unless you are blind, you will know immediately when you are in them.

I am aware of some gang activity, so be careful on where you rent. Visit with any realtor and they can steer you in the right direction.

I really can't answer that since I don't have any children in kindergarten, I can't give any specific answers.

It's not inner city urban, so I don't see how any kindergarten school could be any worse than any other kindergarten.

As for things to do, well, it depends on what you enjoy doing. In the next few months, staying indoors out of the heat will be quite popular! Enjoy your stay.
